    • RE: Veeam Licenses Quandry

      I understand that the Universal License (VUL) was made available this month: https://www.veeam.com/blog/introducing-new-universal-license.html

      And Veeam told partners that all new subscriptions will use VUL. The server for Enterprise still is 1.5 licenses and 1 for Enterprise Plus. VM's are 1 licence each.

      They say the price will be better for some workloads . Use the calculator to check.

    • RE: cPanel Price Increase

      @JasGot
      I considered Interworxs before mainly because of its cluster support. It is a stable control panel.
      The truth is I am slowly moving out of the Control Panel thing (I am not a traditional shared hoster). I just have some servers with cPanel because some clients still want it

    • RE: cPanel Price Increase

      The price was announced some time ago and this is the first month it has been applied. I am absorbing the price difference and moving out of cPanel. I actually started the move a few months ago but moving out has not been easy for non-technical reasons.

      Interworx is well know. I know many hosters are moving to DirectAdmin .

      Zoom is actually great. I just hate when companies don't handle security the right way:

      https://autom8n.com/ has a solution. I never got it implemented as I am migrating out of cPanel. Check the docs or contact them, the owner is very responsive.

      @magicmarker
      What @JaredBusch said 🙂 +make sure DC2 is a global catalog before demoting DC1.
      Regarding replication, as I don't like to wait I would use repadmin to be sure replication is completed instead of waintg for x business days.

      I forgot to mention the other big option along with Jasper and Pentaho: Spago BI now known as Knowage

      Edit: going back to school so I can learn to type.

      @DustinB3403 said in Opensource BI / Dashboard / Reporting solutions?:

      So I know I've looked at Grafana before, but now that I'm reading into it a bit more on lunch, I don't think Grafana is a BI tool.

      Not in a sense that an accounting/sales team could use anyways. Maybe but it really looks more like an infrastructure monitoring and reporting tool to watch IT infrastructure.

      Yes, I found weird to find Grafana as an suggestion for cross tab reports created by non-technical users.

      Pentaho is another option. I have only used the ETL part but the suite is large

    • RE: Another VPS Kid on the block upcloud.com

      @Emad-R
      Absolutely. Two things:

      • They are new so servers are most likely not overloaded with VMs. Time will tell if they continue that way after the service gets popular
      • Depending on the configuration, they are more expensive

      On the other hand, UpCloud was consistently good with some data centers outside of US

      They have been in business at least since 2013. If I remember right, by that time they data centers were in Finland/UK only.
      I host some simple services in their Chicago data center and they work very well.

    • RE: Add External Contact to Shared Mailbox. Office 365.

      I am sure I have done this before for some reason I do not remember:

      • Assign a password to a shared mailbox (without a license)
      • Added the shared mailbox manually to Outlook to someone out of the tenant

      It may break the license agreement

      Got it. Then, in my opinion, Rackspace is not a fit for your requirements unless thay have made major changes in the last 2 years

    • RE: Experience with Rackspace Email?

      @Pete-S
      I know you already decided and my comment add no real value to your decision. But I want to add up that I used their email services until about 2 years ago for a critical domain:

      • The email service worked well
      • The anti SPAM was too basic and was the main reason to move out
      • Support was generally good and sometimes really bad. The fact that I had to call support says a lot as I am used to solve things on my own; calling support only when there are no other options.

    • RE: MailCow in Production Datacenter

      @scottalanmiller
      I am running it on rented servers and I understand why you want it to be behind you proxy

      @scottalanmiller said in MailCow in Production Datacenter:

      but that seems like just extra complexity that doesn't need to be there, that adds more places for things to break.

      How would you serve the PHP code of the control panel if you are not including a web server within mailcow?
