I agree with Scott and JB, Perhaps a twitter post might be your best bet to actually get something.

Since those businesses postings aren't earning them any money (i.e. you don't pay them to be there) they don't care about you or your listing.

True, it comes down to the almighty dollar. I knew it was a longshot but figured maybe someones cousins, sisters friend who has an uncle who works there...

Always worth the ask I suppose.

At this point, whatever you can find in stock.

Exactly. I've purchased a few Taotuo cameras from Amazon (about all i could find) one was OK, the other was crap.

Good luck finding much of anything.

@CCWTech Never seen this site before but I do love Mango Lassi, it is delicious.
I have this exact problem with this exact firmware, this is valuable information.

Meanwhile. I got to the point that I dread every single firmware update that Unifi put out. It almost always fails to install or breaks something and I support multiple sites, its a nightmare. Doesnt anyone do any vetting or beta testing or anything over there?

yeah, they had a problem with their controller v6 upgrade - caused all kinds of issues... I've been gun shy upgrading my office because of that.. I did upgrade at home no issues, but if that goes down.. meh.. I work to fix it.. if work goes down.. damn!!

We've recently started using Zoho Workdrive and I think it works about the same as every other cloud storage that can sync folders and files.

I'm wondering what happens if a client for any reason doesn't sync the data to the cloud anymore. Is there a way for admins to detect that, for instance in OneDrive?

On the client side there definitely is, not sure if there is on the server side.

    • RE: SIP Calls not passing audio under one specific condition.

POTS = Plain old telephone service - think copper wires to your home in the 80's.

You most likely mean a DID - direct inward dial, a phone number that is assigned to your office carrier that is delivered to your PBX over the trunk between your carrier and your PBX.

When I moved to SIP several years ago, We learned we couldn't call our own phone number either. I think we got a fast busy.

This is sometimes called tromboning, or boomeranging, calling out only to have the call come right back over the same trunk to your own PBX.

Cox didn't support this, I'd ask your carrier if they support an outgoing call coming right back over the same trunk?

This whole approach of not doing updates on mission critical system is nonsensical. Admins need to grow a set and setup automatic updates on everything by default. If stuff breaks when you update it, that's on software vendor, period.

LOL - sure of course, we'd love this to be true... it may be on the software vendor, but it's still on you as the one who has to support it for the company.

Same thing with public servants, military, many executives, etc. Their salaries aren't just exposed a little, they are published across the board.

That's how far the government goes, it's not just "you can tell people your own", but actually "we make everyone public."

Right, but in government - you generally earn based on a formula that leaves little if any room for outside influences...

You do X job title, been there y years - you earn A amount. Period.

This isn't the case at all in many private industry jobs.

If you have a job where you can easily quantitate the output to determine value - say a line worker on an automotive factory floor, then sure, but then again, in that job, you're really no different than the government jobs.

But even in retail jobs, you have good people and you have not so good people... If every knows what everyone else is making... I'm not sure that that helps? it either gets the slackers to be over paid, or the heros to be underpaid... saying Well - Johnny is just better employee than you, so I choose to pay him more, that isn't going to make people happy, it will likely make them less happy...

Unfortunately, this is likely not true.
Browsers these days are using DOH (DNS Over HTTPS), so that traffic just looks like HTTPS traffic and goes anywhere it likes, save any rules you have in place for that specific protocol.

Chocolately - I use the their package choco-upgrade-all-at-start. This will schedule choco to upgrade at every reboot.

There's another package choco-upgrade-all-at that defaults to 4 AM update daily.

Chocolatey is more flexible, but PDQ is super simple. We implement PDQ here currently, as it was an uphill battle to get anything going. Now that the benefits are seen, many roads have opened.

I am all for automation, and open source is a plus. Salt may be the next venture, as it looks like a fleet of Pis, and an expansion of Linux servers may be in our future.

Yeah - I really need to look into salt myself. One frustrating thing is not knowing the status of any anything. not that salt can help with that, at least I don't think it can directly.

yeah I don't think this will do what you want either.

This boils down to user behavior. If they refuse to use the tools as designed, there's not a lot you can do.

Removing local Word might be your only option, along with the rest of the Office package, make them do everything on the web.

@stacksofplates anyone or their cousin can register as a developer and use the system for production.

      Here's my personal account.

      chrome_bBqzHTWlig.png

Yes I also have a developer account. The 16 production workloads are for the cloud subscription. As the article mentioned.

I think you're believing that this is tied to Redhat's Cloud offering, it's not. It's tied to your account with redhat, for sure. (So you can download it). But you can download and run this anywhere.

At least that's how I'm reading this.

You're correct. I just read that and came to post. The wording in the other article was confusing and made it seem like they needed to be deployed on a supported cloud provider.

However, I still don't think it's worth going through the trouble to download from Red Hat vs just downloading Oracle and not needing to do anything.

One thing I wonder is if you have a paid subscription for something like Gluster, Ceph, Satellite (not that you would for 16 servers but I mean any subscription) do you now have to pay for the host it's on? Do the terms of any of those pieces of software require the systems they're on to have a valid license?

Just thinking about that took more time than downloading the Oracle ISO.

Why wouldn't they? They sure do in the Windows World.

Hate companies that don't show pricing, as if they are in £££££ range, the demo wont be install or tried.

They don't understand that they are losing business. They think they are getting leads into their sales funnel by not giving the price and forcing people to contact them. In reality some of their leads are actually dropping out just, because they wont state their price.

A simple "from $xyz per month" would suffice.

Agreed - I'm sure they lose more leads than they gain this way...

LOL - you mean it's a great time to get away from spinners 😉

I know there are still cases for spinners. We can only hope this system is ancient since it's running RAID 5 on spinners, so we should be able to assume the drives are tiny - easily replaced by two SSDs in RAID 1.

that 60 minute SLA is probably only "We'll respond within x amount of time"

In this case, it really is 60 back up and running. I've see it in action. I would never do this because of the costs and handcuffs to one vender, but if the CEO is happy, that's all that really matters.

The past is never a showing of future endeavors. And a happy CEO? that seems like the wrong approach.

Anything you can get in a leased line you can get in an Internet line for the same or cheaper. Leased lines aren't magic, they are just the same lines without Internet access.

Wrong!!! We are in the UK and bound by Openreach infrastructure, where some site only have ADSL products and long line lengths. If we need more bandwidth we have to pay for better lines. Thankfully 4G coverage is getting better and that's a good alternative.

Is your internet charge a different charge on top of the MPLS?

If so you should be able to get leased lines with internet for the same or less cost, because they are dropping the MPLS component.
