Can you get 100/100 to both Offices in your city? or only one of them?

@Dashrender I don't understand why not just let the client connect to the cloud storage and download the files you want to edit, and then automagically upload them every time you save?

Yes... Google Drive syncs EVERYTHING to your desktop, AFAIK (I don't use the G: Drive client, lol). So you are correct in that assessment.

To make sure I understand... your 3 branches are merging with your main branch?

I like the fact that it doesn't sync all of my stuff from my G: drive to my android device. I wish the G: Drive Desktop Client gave you this freedom as well.

As I understand it, Google Drive syncs to your computer just like OneDrive on a Windows / Mac devices.

On iOS and Android, it only downloads the files you open / edit. You can tag specific files to be always on your device if you want.

There's that, and then if the Host where your Veeam instance live burns out the RAID array, you have lost all of your backups, lol.

A lot of times they list the throughput as the max that you can expect to get out of the system if it is fully loaded. You may get more or less, depending on how many users you put on the system.

Also. extra capabilities, such as Web filtering, VPN, IPS, and Malware Dettection, etc... can have a HUGE impact on your throughput. I had a Fortigate that would slow our 20 meg connection (1000 users) from getting full 20 megs down to like 5 just for enabling the IPS or Antivirus along side of the web filter.

If you want to really learn networking stuff, I would recommend starting with the CCNA.

That's huge. So many SMBs (and I assume enterprises but I see it rarely there) approach with the solution and then try to figure out how to make it work. I see it constantly where people start with "I need a SAN" and can't tell you why they feel that they need or want it. The desire for the SAN is often the starting point of the conversation rather than a clear business need. So when you ask what their goal is or how they are servicing the business, they are lost.

Certifications do help when you are job hunting some times, but a lot of folks look at experience before certs.

Why not approach the company that you are currently with and go hey, these other guys are offering me 20/20... offer me some incentive to stay.

Can the company you are with offer better rates now? If you don't ask for them, you won't get them. 8-)

I definitely agree with Scott and have learned a lot from him through threads here and on SW!

I am a firm believer in the right tools for the right job. The SAN vs Local Storage (DAG, replication, etc, etc) will always be a decision to be made. And I am coming to agree more and more with @scottalanmiller that Local Storage + Replication + Good Backups will almost always be the better answer for an SMB.

My take-away from my first and only SAN deployment (as smoothly as it went, it could have been much, much, much worse) is that you must define what you are looking for clearly (both to yourself, your team, and to your vendor of choice). You must also do your own research about the products the vendor recommends. We were recommended a number of solutions that were FT only and not true HA. Once your vendor has made you a quote for "Product X" check and make sure the product's company defines things the same way that you do. If you think "Product Y" may be a better fit for what you are wanting, then ask your vendor about it.

Never be afraid to second guess yourself, your vendor, or your peers in a respectful way.
