Due to some recent issues with DNS that have arisen using ZeroTier, et al. Has anyone been able to figure out a way to make Windows AD / DNS Server respond depending on which NIC the request comes from?
IE: If I have a LAN (192.168.1.0/24)... and a file server with a LAN IP (192.168.1.10)... and this file server also has ZeroTier (IP: 192.168.100.10)...
I want the Windows DNS server to ALWAYS respond with 192.168.1.10 from any computer that issues a DNS request from the 192.168.1.0/24 network....
I would also like the Windows DNS server to ALWAYS respond with 192.168.100.10 from any computer that issues a dns request from the ZeroTier network...
Is that even possible without having to create two separate DNS servers?
Curiosity got the better of me, so I went to xByte to see... You can build a nice SAM-SD based on a Dell R720 from xBytes for around 10k ... But that included 256GB of ram and 8 x 1.2 TB SAS drives (they don't have any larger drives listed on their web site)... and 3 Year Warranty... (I have a PDF (https://beta.wellston.biz/xByte SAM-SD.pdf) of how I configured it if everybody wants to see)...
The trick is getting our kid to be more verbal, lol.

I'd be willing to do some networking stuff... but that's an extremely broad topic.
"Put the pokey bits into the holes"
Do the hokey pokey and you turn your self around... Then the token ring falls out!
I would definitely check and make sure that DNS was installed on your second DC. Have you actually gone through the process to promote it from being a member server yet?
It helps that these advertisers actually have members in the community too, don't they?
Slow over here too apparently... I got my ears turned on and survivEd the trip to Atlanta and back.

Blocked in Greece, too.
Blocked in the US too, ROFL.
@coliver Is right. It really is "that easy" lol. And I think that it does install DNS as part of the AD Promotion process too, so really all that is left is to back up the first DC (if you are paranoid as I am) and then promote the second one.

Spicecorps DFW had a 100% ML turn out, not one person from SW that wasn't also from ML turned up. That's a first. Tonight's role call for those that attended looking to see who was there was:
@scottalanmiller
@Dominica
@Texkonc
@NetworkNerd
@NerdyDad
@gcarreon
@PSX_Defector
@Count-Chocula (Bloodhound Gang)Thanks to @Texkonc who provided our dinner!
The only way that could have been any better would have been if everybody showed up wearing ML shirts, lol.
I asked for something around "So So" and a friend of mine handed me a bottle of #7. I didn't look at the bottle, I just covered a small hamburger in it... Yeah, that was an experience I won't forget, lol.
@MattSpeller Everything on that list makes sense... Except the first one... The first item has me concerned for your safety.
Best way I've heard it described is that when you enable Hyper-V on a Windows Server, your Windows Server Core (or GUI) becomes the Linux equivalent of Dom 0

What's the address? I live 30 minutes away from Carrolton so I might be able to get there if I beat the traffic.
Very casual.
I think he means what is the address of the location where the meetup is happening?
Oh weird, for some reason I TOTALLY saw that as "what is the dress". It's still early, apparently. Haven't had my coffee yet.
This is a bad sign, so soon after I did the same thing with you and ball gown instead of ball room!
I'm still waiting on this to be photoshopped.
I am playing Guess that Sound! ... like semi-permanently for the rest of my life, lol.
Implant seems to be working out great! I've listened to a Rock band at the convention I was at a couple of weeks ago... and I've listen to some Gospel, Rockapella, and a bunch of whatever else I can find buried in the backups I keep on my computer, lol.
I can haz music back!
@DustinB3403 He just wants enjoy being be harrassed by the TSA when he lands.
I currently have a Dell R720xd running Hyper-V 2012R2. It works really really well. Not sure on the price tag, but that is a nicely built system. Raid controller can do RAID 10, and RAID 6 in addition to the others... Add ram to meet your needs.
And I'm back in the saddle again after an adventurous day IRL, lol. Had a Thanksgiving lunch at school with the kid. Upgraded wife's cell phone (Droid Turbo 2), Played musical "Car Titles-N-Tags" to get car tags on the vehicles they belong to. Left home at 10:30am and didn't get back until 8pm... What a night.
