It makes me wonder if Microsoft and Google will use heavy increases eventually that will push companies to use colo and solutions like you have suggested Scott.

If they did, they would have to drop them down again. Their ability to scale is much greater than most companies'.

True, but they do make silly moves sometimes. I cannot see why people would stay with G Suite when 365 has better online editors. I don't think Google have changed or added more features to sheets and docs since they launched it, doesn't seem like they had when I last used them anyway.

I'm not going to slag off Wordpress, I think it's good, you just need to make sure that you limit logins and keep it up to date. I use it myself and love what you can do with the platform.

And not add bad things on top of it. A bad theme or plugin is part of the code and going to break things.

We very carefully only use a few, tested, trusted, maintained plugins. Gotta keep it lean.

That top of his is defiantly looking outdated lol..

Also have a look at https://zammad.org/ free / opensource. They also do a paid hosted version.

Looks like it has a modern UI.

The way I see it is, if a company employs you to do a job then they should provide the tools to be able to do that job, apart from certain cases when your self employed etc. Sounds like a bit of an ass of a company.

Think the idea of hosting a public DNS is just asking for a headache
you could block all countries and just allow China and Russia. - (joking of course)

Have you looked in /var/logs? might be worth looking to see how they have managed to get in. otherwise you could setup another PI-Hole and the same thing could happen. Did you use a secure passwords for SSH and the login page? no dictionary passwords?
