100% agree with your comment Nash...That Amber Rudd women spoke about how facebook, whatsapp and many others should let government agencies have backdoor access. I say they should go F** themselves! - Non technical people in high power should not be able to stipulate comments like that...

    • RE: Installing MS Office Pro Plus from Office 365 on Windows RDS

Great post, I used this method about a month ago to create an offline install as well, was a lot quicker then keep downloading directly from 365, especially if you have not got a quick connection and install office regularly on users machines. When you first run office it ask for an activation key and under the input box is a link saying activate using an email address, you then just enter a 365 email address which has the relevant licence attached.

@dafyre Another thing I detest is this windows as a service crap.... All I need is Security updates...
Not for your default pdf reader or browser to be reset when windows feature updates have been installed, and yes you can ignore, but it will soon keep telling you to install it. Lets not forget they are moving everything about and changing the OS in stages (control panel) for example, some bits here some bits there.....It's just a mess at the minute I think....

Microsoft are doing so well with their 365/Azure platform, but I believe they have got windows 10 so wrong.... I just don't see this getting better at all.

Anyway, hoped you all enjoy my love for windows 10 🙂

Loved using DOS, but now prefer using bash rather then powershell.. I just don't get why every command is like writing a sentence in powershell.

@nadnerb I know but the *.cpl files are control panel items. you can get to these by control.exe as well...what do you think Microsoft are going to do once they have moved everything from control panel to the updated settings pages? they are doing it in stages and it will then be bye bye control panel including the cpl files. I cant stand MS what they are doing to the OS. Windows reached it's peak at windows 7. Then they killed it with windows 8. Then they turned to windows as a service which they have not got right till this day. The joke is whats going to be broken on the next feature update....Hopefully they will carry on making a mess out of it and turn everyone over to a linux based OS. MS are not really bothered about the desktop anymore, why would they? Azure, 365 And Xbox is where their priorities lay and is their bread and butter. They dumped the idea of a new cut down version to take on chrome books and got rid of windows mobile years ago. I will say Their server editions are still ok...well for now lol.

The thread started off well anyway, cant understand why people are still seeing no need to Virtualize....it's 2016, there are free hypervisors to choose from, this shouldn't really be asked anymore.

@EddieJennings said in What Are You Doing Right Now:

Goal achieved: client (Outlook) connected to Zimbra via IMAP. Amazing what happens when you finally stop overlooking opening TCP 993 on the VM's firewall.

      Give Activesync a try Eddie:

    • RE: RDS / Outlook interactions causing crashes?

Sounds odd that one, what about testing and disabling local resources on the RDP client to see if there is any local interference? (i.e audio) might be a worthwhile test? also could try reducing the screen resolution?

took ages to figure out why packets were dropping in pfsense. I could use ICMP but everything else was dropping. One setting I had to change was "Advanced > Disable Hardware Checksum offload".....man, one checkbox and all is working correctly, what a nightmare lol.
