@scottalanmiller I am not connecting to the server. I just set it up and have no trouble connecting to it and moving files around for testing purposes. One of our vendors will connect to it and upload files. We will then go retrieve them. THEIR client software is not playing nice with the ciphers that are the default in Fedora. They as a company are always behind the curve on being up-to-date. They just need it to work. I've been reading for hours on end to make it compatible for them with no luck.

Right, I guess that's the question, if they can't keep their software secure, time to have a "come to Jesus" talk with them. This isn't a hard thing to do, the most incompetent IT department would still have current ciphers for their SSH. This implies that they are behind by decades and are laughing that you are still paying them when they aparently fired their IT staff in the 1990s.

The logic (according to the bosses) for an email-type system is to retain messages and have the normal features. The old system forced you to check the messages as soon as you logged in to the software. Not sure how they expect to get everyone to check a new system daily and actually use it.

How is this different than IM systems? Other than saying it is like email, since it's not using SMTP, it's not like email. From the description, it doesn't sound like email fits the desired bill more or less than other solutions.

Quality is the same. Going to try an MKV file as soon as MakeMKV site is back up.

Doesn't NextCloud support SFTP? Would that work for you?

No it uses WebDav protocol, but you can login to the linux machine that is hosting it via SSH

I would not get a 720P camera just because it's like $5 more for 1080p. My very old, very nice 1080p USB camera was only a few bucks more all that time ago than a 720p. You don't need 1080p, I agree. But it's SO cheap.

I thought about making a new VM using Fedora 25 as the one @scottalanmiller provided the group works so well. I'm just afraid I won't be able to successfully migrate the data.

It's all just a database and filesystem. I've not done this, but should not be bad.

Would this still be possible if you've chosen to enable encryption? I would assume that your encryption key would be different in a new install. I don't remember reading anywhere about how to migrate data from one install to another if it was encrypted (although maybe I've never read it because it doesn't matter). Has anyone done this? Moved users and data to a new install with encryption turned on?

Doing the migration would decrypt on the source before doing the move. So it should be the same. The key would change or not depending on if you move the key.

I'd get in there and talk Office 365. Work up some example prices and lay out some risks.

Smaller than VULTR I mean. I think they are two data centers, Phoenix and Milwaukee. I imagine that VULTR is just much much bigger.

Or maybe they pay Schmooze for the "official host" moniker?

Sangoma. There is no more Schmooze.

Schmooze chose the datacenter in Milwaukee because Schmooze was based in Milwaukee.
