I just did this about 10 minutes ago and it's working great. did you follow the first few steps in the guide on here?

      setenforce 0
      yum -y install epel-release
      mkdir -p /var/www/html; cd /var/www/html/
      wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/snipe/snipe-it/master/install.sh && chmod 744 install.sh && ./install.sh

Not sure if it makes any difference, but he says he's using G models and not S.

On the ripping software and Plex, I have everything set to the highest it will allow. I think it all goes back to the ripping but I am not sure.

What hardware is your Plex server on? You basically have to transcode on the Plex server unless you're playing on a semi-modern computer. It's my understanding that not many inexpensive streaming devices have the processing power to do on-the-fly transcoding, and if your Plex is on a NAS or something, that's probably not powerful enough to do the transcoding either.

It sounds like you're ripping and transcoding all in the same program. How big are the finished files? If you're transcoding at the highest possible level, you'd just be straight ripping the Bluray and the files would be like 30+ GB per file. If you're compressing bluray the finished files could be ~3GB depending on the movie, and DVD ~1GB, which would still be really good quality.

I haven't done this in a while but I used to use MakeMKV to rip, and HandBrake to transcode. Both of them used to be free. I've never been disappointed in the quality going this route.

Here's a pretty good rundown of processing power that you need to transcode

What do you mean skip server OSes? SA and RDS CALs in this case would only be applying to the desktop OS, not the server.

I meant it as deploying the W10 would be skipping the purchase of another server license

@scottalanmiller Ah, I just assumed it didn't, we weren't getting SA for remote access reasons so I didn't really read into that portion of it.

    • RE: MS Licensing - 3rd

None of this really helps the OP, because SA does not get you Remote Access rights at all... and I'm sure there are rules that make it very clear that you cant skip server OSes just because you have SA and RDS CALs

That's not really telling, though. Everyone complains that the auditors know less than anyone. That they thought it was okay is so disconnected from the licensing that it really tells us nothing.

Totally agree with this. Same concept applies to many scenarios in life... Calling customer support? Call until you get someone to do what you want.

Though, I'm fairly confident, in this case, that it's true. I researched this a LOT before we bought SA for our programming guys that needed to run multiple VMs for different software.

SA for Windows 10, not SA for Windows 7.

So confusing, it was also my understanding that SA doesn't apply to specific versions. SA applies to any Windows Desktop OS. Obviously when Windows 7 was the latest, the rules may have been different. But now, with SA, you should be able to install up to (4) Win7 VMs on a single piece of hardware

At least when we were audited last year, we had this exact scenario and the auditor agreed with me lol

No other VMs can exist on the machine on which Windows 7 is a VM.

This is not true from what I understand, if you have SA you're able to install up to 4 VMs (I think?) on one computer

Does "accessing" the computer only mean using the desktop? Or does accessing also apply if there's a web server installed or some other app that isn't accessed through the desktop?

Listening about it on the radio now, they're claiming over 400 injured. Also that the shooter killed himself before police got to him. Not sure how much of this has actually been verified.

This isn't a real product? I put one in my cart and it says it's shipping in 7-9 days... Click the right arrow over at the top and you can see more configurations, one being 16GB RAM, i7, etc.

I find the WiFi and Bluetooth not turning off from the control panel (just disconnecting) irritating.
I have nothing that I want connected in the background AFTER I turn the $radio off.

I love this feature. If my home internet is slow I can disconnect with the push of a button, then when I get to work it automatically connects to the wifi there. I don't have to try to remember to turn it back on, it just connects.

I guess if you have a more advanced configuration, like VPN or something, this might be a nuisance. How hard would it really be for them to just give us the option of what the button does though?

@dashrender Nothing is wrong with PayPal, but Venmo is like 2 clicks and money sent directly to the recipients linked bank account. No signing into paypal, no entering email addresses (just select out of your contacts), no picking whether its for personal or business use, and ultimately no waiting to transfer from paypal to your bank account. Just a very streamlined version of paypal. I've never sent paypal money on the phone, so it may be an easier process than on the computer.

Semi off topic, but Venmo is super easy to pay friends/family for things. I believe it also works on Android too.

And touching the grey area next to the landscape keyboard triggers letters... I never type in that orientation, but that definitely does seem annoying for those that use it regularly.
