I've saw Docker being used for some pretty cool software as a service delivery, but I'm curious to hear about what anyone else might be using it for if not just for SaaS.
The reason I'm wondering is because I've used XenApp, vApp, App-V, and RemoteApp, but have never setup Docker. Not sure if it is for totally different use cases or if it could be very useful for delivering legacy healthcare apps that don't run very well on Win10 (pushing them off legacy being a different thread).
I've tried the built in, I still cannot find anything that compares to BitTitan Migration Wizard. The cost is about $10-15/user but totally worth it.
Free, but not sure about open source... LibreOffice Draw works well. Inkscape is worth checking out; typically a vector graphics tool, but also has some PDF editing capabilities.
I've used Foxit PhantomPDF across a few clients, and have had some issues with the driver just randomly experiencing issues when trying to print to PDF or to a printer. So, just a heads up. But their price is very attractive. As @JaredBusch also pointed out, PDf Element is a good alternative at a slightly lower cost than Foxit PhantomPDF (roughly $30).

Funny you mention that. I had forgotten about that method until this morning. I ended up using that method on the server (after creating a datastore using NFS share on a Synology appliance), using it strictly as a backup for a couple days to make sure things are good. I'll likely not use the conversion in the future; though they both took around the same amount of time to complete, the conversion was such a pain.
I was waiting for hypervisor integration, which is one thing Veeam had over StorageCraft without question. Kept hearing rumors from our rep stopping by, and I just checked their site today and it looks like it's finally here in full force.
Haven't used it quite yet, but appears to integrate ImageManager and SPX, along with hypervisor integration. ShadowProtect already has some very awesome features, and this convergence is pretty sweet.
Why not just use VMware Standalone Converter to convert the VHD/X to VMDK?

Worth noting... You need the amount of CALs to equal users, for a certain platform. 2012 RDS? Needs CALs. Exchange 2013? Needs CALs. Upgraded from 2012 RDS to 2016 RDS and Exchange 2013 to 2016? All new CALs.
Not everything is excusable; even with time and potentially gutting the beast. There's certain things that are just a death sentence in my book. I'm fully aware of what Lenovo has done, and I'm all done recommending them. Others may not feel the same about severity.
I'm not totally aware about Barracuda with intentional malicious action, there is some stuff with their VPN side of things that I've been iffy about regarding security (thinking of Java and their weird method for authentication to a browser redirect from the local client). All I've really heard is about negligence. Care to share?
Outside of a proper 3-2-1 backup model, I'm looking at a 2-1 model for a certain appliance at this time. I've looked at BackBlaze B2, Synology C2, and also Azure Storage (archive pricing). It looks like BBB2 and SC2 both have file history, but I haven't found anything on Azure Storage having file history (not just a 1:1 sync, in case someone makes a mistake or the appliance gets hit with ransomware).
Two questions:
Edit: Found file history for Azure Storage. I couldn't find it the first time because the documentation I was reading was for blob only, not for "general purpose" which could be file backup/Azure Files.

I do like that company for many reasons other than cost. But what throws me off is the method to connect the appliance is to use AWS S3. Any idea why that is?
That's not what it says at all. You are seeing the S3 API being chosen and thinking of Amazon's S3 service. Wasabi is just S3 compatible, that's all. It doesn't require a special API like other services.
The logo is what is throwing me off. I'm assuming the S3 API was created by Amazon, but then they are just allowing other companies to use it?
From what I've read about S3, it isn't proprietary; which makes me think Amazon doesn't have any kind of patent on the tech...
S3 is a service. A patent isn't possible on a service. That's not how patents works. An API is an interface and can't be patented either. That would be like patenting a language.
S3 the product is totally proprietary. S3 the API must be public or it is useless.
Got it. Thanks for clarifying. The 3 block logo was throwing me off as I thought it would be somehow using specific stuff for AWS since that has appeared to be their branding/logo; obviously it isn't an issue or Wasabi would have legal issues to deal with.
Where are you seeing that? I'm poking around on Wasabi's site and don't see it used.

Right, that's Synology using it, not Wasabi. The tool is for "connecting to S3". It's definitely Amazon S3's logo. Why would Synology using it in any way cause legal trouble for Wasabi who didn't use it?

Replacing wire is expensive (in labor hours).

Depends on how much wire needs to be run since 'expensive' is subjective. But I get what you're saying; it's more expensive than reusing the existing wire and just using an adapter.

Besides Scott's problems, what issues are yall talking about? Honestly, we have had very little issues with Exchange Online and SharePoint Online over the course of 2-3 years.
Referring to OneDrive for Business syncing. Outside of SharePoint Online, speaking only to the ODfB syncing; it'll often just break for no apparent reason and stop syncing to workstations.
Not really concerned with syncing, but wanting to use it similarly to a networked drive on a hosted server instead of an on-prem server.
WebDAV. Acts just like any mapped drive.
That's what I started thinking, but that isn't focusing on OD/ODfB; that goes beyond a single client and focuses on central delivery. Used it for uploading/downloading unsupported file types in regards to SharePoint; couldn't upload to SharePoint, but WebDAV didn't balk.
Just went through a work thread on this last night. So annoying.

Windows 10 - 1709 update ends in xxxx717 if you want to uninstall it on an as-needed basis on desktops (for anything running Home and doesn't have secpol available, or domain joined for the same reason).
Windows 10 - 1803 ends in xxx721.... they all hit on 05/09/18 (my Win10 Pro laptop had that this morning and gave me issues after a reboot... didn't want to modify my local policy but instead just uninstalled and rebooted).

Re: What Is Expected of Microsoft Server Support?
I've had a couple support calls in the last year that have been pretty bad though. Communication was the root of the issue. I would reach out multiple times for an update, asked for more diagnostic logs since a week or so has passed since they spoke with me last; another few weeks, rinse and repeat.
What's interesting is we're a Microsoft gold partner, so you'd figure we would get better communication. Technical resolutions though are typically >4 hours.
