    • RE: Yamaha Sound Board Network Issues

Without being familiar with the model, I would first say that the boards I have used don’t like DHCP and need a static IP as well as having the router IP input into a field. Also, I’ve not seen a mixer with built in wifi, so they always need to be wired to the router or directly connected to a PC for recording/DAW functionality. If none of that applies here, I have to think about a faulty NIC in the sound board.

I was gunna layout a board, but then I got high.... and did it anyway

does being in straight lines, etc somehow ensure a better design layout? What if the circuit paths are shorter this way?

No more so than cabling in your datacenter needs to be neat and tidy to work.

It's... just... really wrong. Goes against everything I've been taught.

I saw that equal statement.. Cable length (lives) matter πŸ˜›

lol it's not a hard and fast thing so I took it out. But really! It's killing me here. It's like this being your datacenter and you have people tour it every day and stare at it. Horrific.

It is cooking season for the next little while... BBQ, chili, stews, curries... It's so much nicer to cook outdoors in the winter.

Only southerners would claim that outdoor cooking season is the middle of winter...

It's fun to sit by the fire and drink and cook. But that pic looks like what we would call "snowpocalypse".

Idk. I think I'll most likely have a climate controlled shed built for me to use as a carpentry workshop.

I'm lucky enough to also have a full cabinet shop, in addition to the garage. That was worth every penny to build.

Super jealous. I think within a year we will start looking for a builder for our house. It's an exciting time.

I do all of my own building and remodeling, so that keeps costs down significantly.

You build additions onto your own house? i'm not super handy with that kind of stuff yet

Yup, I've built homes, shops, done all aspects of remodeling. I do carpentry, masonry, electric, plumbing, flooring, roofing, etc., as well as building custom cabinetry and furniture.

That's fantastic. I want to get a CNC machine eventually for some projects I have in mind πŸ˜„

Like CNC Shark, to do small woodworking projects?

Nah I want to be able to cut through aluminum and stuff. Pi projects mostly.

Most of the woodworking CNC's will do aluminum; it's so super easy to machine. Easier than some wood species, in fact.

Orly. Hm. I'll have to do some research on it. That Tormach looks like a great machine though.

I'll bet it works great... if you want to drop $5K on it. There are plenty of home-built options out there, too. Check out YouTube for units different people have put together.
Before I got into woodworking seriously, I spent 15 years as a production supervisor in a tool and die shop, running everything from vertical milling machines, to CNC mills, lathes, punch presses, and everything in between. IMO, for the hobbyist, there is no need to drop big money on capable tooling when there are so many cheap options today that will get the job done on all of that light-duty kind of work.

Grinding seems to be what most games on mobile devices are these days - Just not my thing.

Angry Birds was cool because it was about a single mission trying to do the thing. But walking all over a map to collect info to then assemble a puzzle - yeah I think I just put my finger on it.

I don't care for games that have a long term goal, nor do I care for twitch games (FPS).

Same here. I'm a GTA kind of player. Give me a gun, a car, and a target. Hunt around a map and talk to people to find a hidden key? Screw that. Imma blow some stuff up!

I hate shooters and twitch games. Just not my style at all. I am a huge JRPG style play or a RTS.

I'll agree with you on RTS, for sure.

      Whats your poison sir?

I still love to play AoE2. We've actually got a small group going on it again. Lots of fun.

Wish that I had more time to play, been so busy 😞

Depending on who you ask that may be a permanent state for me πŸ˜‰
