Got it! For a tourist, what would be the best (views) drive or train? For us in India depending on the place you visit some places are awesome by road as it takes a different route and some by train. Hope this is the case there too

RE: MangoCon 2017posted in MangoCon
I set the start point as Penn Station (Found that from tripadvisor; Take the AirTrain monorail from your terminal at JFK to Jamaica. At Jamaica take the Long Island Rail Road to Penn Station. You can get an Amtrak train there.)
I found 3 options on amtrak site (Although i didn't quite understand if the routes are different from the map given on the site https://www.amtrak.com/travelplanningmap)
-
Via New York, NY- Penn Station Empire Service-Rochester NY
-
Via New York, NY- Penn Station Maple Leaf-Rochester NY
-
Via New York, NY-Penn Station Lake Shore Limited-Rochester NY

Trains are for those with nothing else to do...
Actually, quite the opposite. On the train you have Internet, power and plenty of space. You can be very productive on trains and they let you rest or sleep, which is a big deal, especially if you've just been flying a long way and might have jet lag or no chance to sleep. Driving completely takes your attention and requires that you be able to control your sleep schedule before and after.
I'm not sure if i need to open a new topic for this! As i might come back seeking more advice to fine tune the trip, as its my first time to the US.
We are still thinking about the train/drive. One thing is it would be our first longest flight trip ever (between 17 to 23 hours, depends on the flight i choose).
I plan to start from here on July 22nd so we get some time before MangoCon and leave back to the UAE on 5th Aug. So we are thinking of few options:Reach JFK on 22nd or 23rd depending on the flight and either stay in NY on 23rd and 24th and leave for ROC by 25th. Not sure if we get to see some good views on the train or the drive. I still need to research on the routes. If we rest well, a drive is an option and we can stop over some places and rest if needed.
Another option we are thinking of. to reach JFK and same day travel to ROC and since we had this long trip i would prefer the train mostly here.
My wife is thrilled to do the drive instead!

If we go directly to ROC, spend some time to go around nearby places then attend Mcon2017 and then back to NY, spend remaining days there and back to Dubai.
Anyways, I will proceed with the plan. I really want to meet you guys and attend this!

Please let me know your suggestions on the plan above please.

Now that Trump keep coming up with new ideas on to block people from outside (i know that it is for now applicable to certain Muslim countries) i really hope it doesnt affect our trip. I will most probably book the flight tickets very soon. And need @Minion-Queen help on the ticket for Mcon and an invitation for us to get apply for the visa

RE: MangoCon 2017posted in MangoCon
Hi all
I am back!

Looking at the ticket rates now. The cheapest I could find is from DXB to JFK and thinking about driving as mentioned by @scottalanmiller from JFK to ROC (5 hours). DXB to JFK is $1209.91

Cheaper than DXB direct to ROC ( Chepest- Egypt Air $1990.74 and $2020.15 for Air France) I guess with DXB to JFK and then a rent a car would still be cheaper. Suggestions please. But then i need to come back to JFK to end the trip (Unless there is a rent a car system where i can drop the car on a different location!)

RE: Jallikattu Ban in our countryposted in Water Closet
I am pretty sure that no one heard about this "Jallikattu"
Taken from Wikipedia and edited for easy understanding:
Jallikattu (English: BullEmbracing), is a traditional event hugging or embracing the bull held in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu as a part of Pongal celebrations on Maatu Pongal day; the second day of the Tamil month Thai (mid January). Bulls are bred specifically by people of the village for the event and attended mainly by many villages' temple bulls. A temple bull is like the head of all cattle in a village; special rituals will be performed for this temple bull during important days. During the event, prizes are announced to encourage the youth to participate. After the event, tamed weak bulls are used for domestic activities and agriculture, meanwhile the untamable strong bulls are used for breeding the cows. Thus wild nature of the bulls are inherited to its next generation, even though these country bulls are domesticated a very long time ago.
Recently the supreme court of India ruled out a verdict to ban this Jallikattu in India.

RE: Do you track medical records?posted in Water Closet
Each hospital here has their own system and our yearly insurance renewal sometimes covers some hospitals and next time they might not. We as of now don't have a specific hospital that we go. Just started this year with adetailed health check and thought its a good idea to keep this saved somewhere handy for future reference.

Congrats!
Few feedback on the site that i thought you might want to check:
Just checked the site and the text "Americans have been effected by Hacking in 2016" is it not affected instead of effected?
Under meet our team, your profile has the cert id but not the other guys, if you ask me, its good to have consistency on both of your profile details, either you add the ids for him or remove it from yours as well.

SharePoint Web front end server high CPUposted in IT Discussion
I was working on a SharePoint farm that had some serious performance issues; even a new site collection creation does not work via central admin, using powershell it takes around 45 minutes! So i checked the servers and found that one of the web front end servers cpu usage was 99-100% most of the times. Checked task manager to see what service is taking up the CPU and found that there are several NodeRunner.exe processes consuming lots of Memory and CPU. The culprit processes are Microsoft SharePoint Search component. So when something was getting deployed and when it tries to work on the second web front end, since the CPU usage is high it takes forever to complete the process.
After some digging, i finally found the fix.
From Sharepoint shell, run as admin:
Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceThis will list down the current performance level of the SharePoint Server Search component. There are three possible values for this; maximum, partially reduced and reduced.
The different levels mean:
Reduced: Total number of threads = number of processors.
Partly Reduced: Total number of threads = 4 times the number of processors.
Maximum: Total number of threads = 16 times the number of processors.
Mine was set to partially reduced and i set that to reduced mode using the below command
Set-SPEnterpriseSearchService -PerformanceLevel ReducedAlong with that, I also changed the memory limit settings from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\15.0\Search\Runtime\1.0\noderunner.exe.config changed the value of <nodeRunnerSettings memoryLimitMegabytes=”0″ />
The initial value is set to “0”, which means that there is no limit, and i set it to 1GB instead.
<nodeRunnerSettings memoryLimitMegabytes="1024″ />And restarted the servers. Now the servers CPU usage is very low, the sites are faster and deployment via powershell is also faster. I just want to fix the new site collection creation issue via central admin as well. The fix for that was to make some changes on IIS.
From IIS- Application Pools-SharePoint Central Administration V4- Right Click-Advance Settings and change the below values for 90 to 400
Ping Maximum Response Time Shutdown Time Limit Startup Time LimitRestarted both servers one by one and tested a new web app creation, from failure to this time it got created in around 8 minutes!

Do you track medical records?posted in Water Closet
As the subject says, anyone tracks their medical records and family members?
I am looking for something that can be used to track our medical records for both me and my wife. Ideally a web service+ an app which works for both android and iphone where you can either upload the report or type in key details like blood reports, cholesterol levels etc. I was checking on Microsoft healthvault but looks like no app connectors are available. Still checking but thought i would ask ML
