RE: MangoCon 2017
Thanks!
Now need to figure out the hotel in NY somewhere as our return is also from JFK (to see nearby places) and which hotel in ROC. Also would be great if you can suggest good rental car companies.

RE: MangoCon 2017

Turkish airlines really tempting, but worried about the issues they had recent attacks!
Ataturk is probably the safest airport in the world. It's the only one that had attacks that they were able to repel them. Their security was so good that the bombers didn't even make it into the airport. There is no airport in the US that comes close to the security there. Five checkpoints before the plane, including metal detectors before you enter the airport itself. You chose Turkish because of security, not in spite of it.
This gives me some confidence!
And the chances of someone trying again are low, because it is already been hit, and because it was hit and failed and because it is so high profile that the security around it is crazy. Tanks always at hand!
So your advice would be to proceed? Its actually way cheaper! If i compare it with Emirates airlines/Qatar Turkish airlines is really cheap, and i guess i heard good things about the flight from your previous posts too!

Given the @scottalanmiller has travelled number of times through this airport, i am leaning towards this. Read some more info and most of that says high alert in areas near Syria

Hi all
I am back!
Looking at the ticket rates now. The cheapest I could find is from DXB to JFK and thinking about driving as mentioned by @scottalanmiller from JFK to ROC (5 hours). DXB to JFK is $1209.91
Cheaper than DXB direct to ROC ( Chepest- Egypt Air $1990.74 and $2020.15 for Air France) I guess with DXB to JFK and then a rent a car would still be cheaper. Suggestions please. But then i need to come back to JFK to end the trip (Unless there is a rent a car system where i can drop the car on a different location!)
Turkish airlines really tempting, but worried about the issues they had recent attacks!

Spin up a <<INSERT YOUR FASVORITE DISTRO HERE>> VM and install X2Go?
Mint 18 is pretty easy to get this set up and working on.
I use this for a remote site, and I let mint start from the iso every time. It's like a mini-VDI!
You mean using the live cd?

The html5 release is already out. https://labs.vmware.com/flings/vsphere-html5-web-client
Just in time, got an update from the support team.
Performance is in already in 6.5 (html5 vs flash), but we've seen a bug that cause the entire cluster to hard crash at the same time. Vmware engineering is telling us that bug is due to be fixed in Q2, so once that is done we'll be looking at upgrading clients.
So till Q2 i need to use something else.

Yes, my actual request was on the suggestions on the distro
I wanted something light weight and just chrome installed.

RE: Linux Desktop
I try both, whatever works at that time, i use. As mentioned for a basic new VM i can use the desktop client, but more features are available only on the web.
My intention as mentioned is to get a light weight linux desktop vm created in that Datacenter which can be accessed via the VPN and all vsphere operations are done from that linux desktop chrome browser. Hoping to get a decent experience with this.

Isn't vSphere web based now? If you're already VPNing into your environment, can't you just open the webpage on your machine?
This is how i work now but it is way too slow. Raised this with the support guys and they mentioned they are waiting for a new release which is html5 based and that should solve the lag. Currently its flash based i believe. The desktop client has less features compared to the web client. So thought of accessing the web console via a local desktop within the network and i could do it faster

Linux Desktop
I have to setup a Linux desktop in one of our data center to access the VMWare vsphere console. We currently have OpenVPN and use our local browser to connect to vsphere but some times managing its through that seems to be very slow.
Thought of setting up a small Linux desktop, so that we can connect to that and manage the vsphere from there. Thinking of installing centos desktop with chrome on it. Suggestions please

pcloud offer
Got this offer on mail from Cloudawards.
Get 2 TB storage for a lifetime
$24998 one payment only
https://www.pcloud.com/lifetime-mega-offer/Not sure how popular is pcloud, but for those who are interested!
From the mail about pcloud:
pCloud is unique it gives you a hard drive in the cloud that doesn't occupy storage space (unlike Dropbox). Plus, it comes with a lot of bells and whistles for secure file sharing: password protected links, end-to-end encryption ā all the good stuff. If you want to use it as a traditional file syncing tool like Dropbox you can, in fact, you've even more flexibility because pCloud syncs ANY folder on your computer, not just one.
As you know, I've been testing and reviewing cloud storage services for the last 5 years now, and very few services were able to impress me much. But pCloud comes very close to being the perfect solution for:
⢠freelancers working with their clients,
⢠designers or photographers who're looking for a cheap place in the cloud for archival purposes,
⢠people looking for a great mobile app to secure their photos
⢠etc...And his review link https://www.cloudwards.net/review/pcloud/

Citycloud is opening their datacenter in the UAE and approached us. I am currently evaluating their services but wanted to check if any of ML members used them before.

RE: Is Yoast the only good SEO plugin on WordPress?
I use Yoast for my blog. It helps to better draft your posts as shown in the video. Helps you to set the heading and the posts with the targetted keywords for SEO.
