This comes up so often and there is such a need for a single collection of resources that I figured like the equivalent one that we maintain for RAID that we should have one for inverted pyramid designs as well. So here it is.

Anyone know of any other important articles and links that should be included? This is for providing a foundation that people need before beginning to have a conversation around building an Inverted Pyramid of Doom. Not that one should never be build, @hutchingsp has a use case example where it makes sense. But he also studied and understood this material and the tradeoffs before doing it. The issue is so often people don't learn the background first and don't even know that this isn't the default option.

I really wish we could get that SW article from months ago as to outline how expensive and horribly designed they generally are.

Where did it go?

Here is the resulting conversation of the thread, about egos.

Oh that one, that one wasn't really fair as the guy was trolling. Much of the info was good, but as the thread was fake it didn't hold up well.

I believe a person's ego very much would lead them into purchasing an IPOD without understanding the setup and purchase in the first place.
