Who here plays Pokemon Go?

It's just been released here and yeah, I've got it and enjoying it so far, but obviously you can't stop being a functioning human, it's like anything - enjoy it if you want, it gets you out, I've already met 4 other people in my area through playing it, but don't be a F*cking idiot about it. Roads are still dangerous, there is still stuff going on in the real world...don't be a douche...basically don't spoil someone else's hobby just for your own!

Hopefully he is charged with the texting and driving crime. It is pretty strict in NY.
But he wasn't texting. He was distracted. The texting law is a weird one that suggests that the distracted law has no teeth or that texting is not a distraction. NY has always had a no distracted driving law and that's what applies here.

Ah, I was curious about that. I knew there was a no distracted driving law but wasn't sure if the texting one was more or less harsh.

Yeah the UK law is that you cannot use a mobile phone while driving, no exceptions etc, just straight up nope.

So no hands free device support at all?
What about cars with bluetooth built in?

hands free is allowed, but has to be the type of system where you don't need to interact with your phone, i.e. putting the phone on loudspeaker is not allowed iirc

How is that different than anything else? Most US cars themselves are also mobile phones. Can you not have OnStar in the UK?

Steering wheel controls are considered "hands free" when paired with bluetooth.
So in this case it would be allowed. Which OnStar would have to be integrated into the steering wheel.

I guess because you don't look at the phone, so not distracted as much, and just press a button? who knows ahaha...
And never heard of OnStar?

You're arguing the semantics of the law. Are you sure you aren't a politician?

English law is a game of semantics. Semantics is the very heart of law. Semantics is really just another word for accuracy. And laws that are inaccurate are just a form of institutional discrimination.

OnStar is the satellite mobile phone system built into every GM vehicle. The car calls home regularly, can be used as a phone, etc.

It would be neat to build a bluetooth display that is similar to google glass, just so that people can go about their normal business, but still enjoy the game.

You'd get out your phone when you found one.

Ok so just a hud so you can see what is around you.
And phone to capture.
Eh I could see a market.
