IT Help Desk Specialist Needed - Oxnard, CA



  • Job Description: IT Help Desk Specialist

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Field all incoming help requests from end users via a variety of intakes (phone, email, etc.).
    • Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems and applications.
    • Proactively monitor and maintain computer systems and networks.
    • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops and mobile devices.
    • Document issues and maintain the internal knowledge base and other IT documentation.
    • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems.
    • Create new user accounts and profiles.
    • Build and maintain Windows desktop images.
    • Follow best practices and SOP, as determined by management.
    • Assist in other projects and duties, as assigned.
    • Flexibility to occasionally work outside normal business hours.

    Soft Skills Required:

    • Enthusiastic self-starter with patience and a keen eye for detail.
    • Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing.
    • Efficient and logical troubleshooter.
    • Able to follow written and verbal instructions and perform tasks with minimal supervision.
    • Desire to learn new technologies and procedures.
    • Possess the ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues at one time.
    • Able to lift 50 pounds.
    • Aspire to do things correctly the first time.

    Knowledge Requirements:

    • Microsoft Windows 7/8.1
    • Microsoft Office 365/2013
    • Microsoft Active Directory
    • NTFS permissions
    • Basic TCP/IP Network connectivity troubleshooting
    • Network and local printer troubleshooting
    • Antivirus software/Virus detection and removal
    • DNS Concepts
    • Network Cabling
    • Desktop and laptop hardware
    • Mobile Devices (iOS and Android)

    Knowledge pluses:

    • ShoreTel IP phones
    • SpiceWorks
    • WDS/MDT

    Desired Educational Qualifications and Experience:

    • High School Diploma
    • Formal education in computer science or information systems or a related field and/or 2-3 years of experience working in a corporate IT environment.
    • CompTIA A+ and/or Network+
    • MCP
