Ubiquiti Switches
-
The only thing I can get in the UK seems to be:
Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch Lite 24 Port
Anyone had experience of this particular model?
-
Hey, this is what I'm doing too.
-
Except Ubiquiti basically don't exist in the UK.
All of their "Major resellers/distributors" on their website, barely carry enough stock of switches, they carry loads of POE but little non POE.
And none of them carry a 48 port edge switch. 24 is the most I can get.

That's the POE version. So I'm paying £300 more for POE features I don't need
The UK local guys have all the POE versions, just lacking the non POE switches. But thanks though

I don't understand the weird obsession that so many vendors have with Ubiquiti and PoE. We have a Ubiquiti without PoE.
-
Stock quantity for POE - 80 per model is the average for switches, all sizes.
Non POE? Maybe 2 or 3?

Seems if people were buying them out that they would order more.

I would suggest replacing one first and making sure you like them before replacing them all. Ubuiquti makes cheap/decent stuff usually but they have done several duds too.

www.4gon.co.uk is where we buy ours from. Seem to have good stock, well at least when i'm buying stuff.

I checked out their site last night but could not see it, now I do:

What the difference between the EdgeSwitch and Unifi Switch?
-
One is POE, the other is not.
That's the only difference I see listed.

Missed one is white one is black
Are they both controlled and configured through the Unifi controller??
-
Yes, both are fully managed.
If they are not, I'll be very unhappy when these units are delivered.

No, the Unifi line is its own animal.

Yes, the Unifi line is like Meraki, it's all centrally controlled through a controller. And they are all white. The non-Unifi equipment is traditional and managed traditionally.

That's a shame. So to buy into the single pane of glass management, they make you spend a lot more.
If they supplied a non POE version it would almost be worth it.
