What's your secret gaming shame?
-
Mine is clicker progression games, like Cookie Clicker, Clicker Heroes and Tap Titans. Even though I know they are just one step removed from Progress Quest: http://progressquest.com/ I still love them and continue to play them.

I love games like Enigma Express where you have to find hidden objects very quickly.
I tried Clicker Heroes, I have it on my Steam laptop but after five minutes I discovered that I couldn't figure out what was going on. I just clicked and won, nothing else happened. What does it do? I couldn't lose or not progress so I was lost.

The draw is that every time you prestige and start the game over, you get permanent upgrades for abilities. Most of these games use that mechanic. The really addictive part of Tap Titans is that you play in regular tournaments against other people to see how far you can get within 24 hours.

Hmmm... but there wasn't anything to do. Why would I return to the game? There didn't seem to be any incentive to play. Like... nothing happened.

Yeah they're pretty stupid. Tap, upgrade stuff, tap some more, rinse repeat. I still love them for some reason.

Zuma. Something easy and brainless to do while on webinars

So really... nothing happens?

No, you just get slightly further each time.

Oh. I see, I think. So little happened that I could not tell that there was anything resembling progress. I could not determine that such a thing existed from the few minutes that I played. I figured that I was missing something big.

I like Minecraft, even though its such a simple game...
But i get quickly bored playing alone...

Yeah you just go up in levels and defeat more monsters, unlock heroes, level them up, etc. Lather rinse repeat.

Yeah I do that too, with tapping games and other mindless games like match 3 games. I've started on You Need a Bigger Boat, which is the sequel to 10,000,000. They're both match 3 games that have RPG elements.

It's the "but there are no enemies" thing that got me. There was no threat to defeat. I couldn't figure out the "why"

Look into Modded Minecraft with the Hardcore Questing mod installed. You can go through a bunch of stuff with it. My server is currently running the Astronomy HQM modpack.

My secret shame? Racing games.
I also dabble in Euro Truck Simulator sometimes... but not as much as I would like.
-
I love flight simulators!
-
@coliver I do play modded.
But I still get bored when playing solo...

Well there are boss fights in Tap Titans and Clicker Heroes. But after each boss is just another boss.

I'm actually running a modded server out of my house at the moment that I play on locally.
I had set it up for some buddies then they all went AFK for the summer season ...

@Nic Yeah thanks for the introduction to this... I had work to do!
