Can you stop a Windows DC from getting updates?
-
I can find information all over the place about stopping updates/automatic updates FROM your domain controller, but what if I really want to also stop the DC itself from being updated? This is not as a long-term thing, just to maintain stability for a short period of time (month or two). Can you point me in the right direction? I'm not looking for "your idea sucks and you don't know what you're doing" responses, as I have a feeling that the majority are going to not like the idea. I'm not going to even begin to try to validate it; I just need to know if and how I can make it work. Thanks!

Disable the service?

That simple? That's almost embarrassing.

Why wouldn't you just change the Update GPO for the DC or directly on the DC?

sometimes the simple fixes are the most satisfying to find out about

@Jason The DC is already set in GPO so that no endpoints can update. This was solely about the DC itself.

All done. Thanks, guys! I am still learning using DC's, in case that wasn't obvious.
