Looking for willing participants and testers for XenServer, NAUBackup and BackUpPC
-
So here's the skinny.
I want to test XenServer using only open source softwares. The only exception I'm willing to make is the use of the Citrix version of XenServer.
- I want to use NAUBackup to create full backup's off host
- I want to use BackUpPC to create incremental backup's off host
- I want to restore with NAUBackup a completely deleted VM. (This I know works)
- I also would like to create a VM with multiple disks, and try restoring using an incremental from BackUpPC
- I then want test the restore functionality of BackUpPC
What I need is some people willing to test with me, as of right now I'm busy learning some new job responsibilities that are being put into my lap.
@scottalanmiller maybe we can carve some room out on those NTG servers?

Oh I meant to add it, so I'll put it here.
I want to restore an entire vDISK using BackUpPC

What were you going to consider instead of XenServer?

The normal community edition.
I know they are identical since Citrix released it to the linux community but I just don't want to go down that path of thinking about it.

It's all the same XS. Same product, same code even the same name.

Does this mean the name Xen is finally dead? can we stop worrying about it? Xen = XenServer and XenServer = Xen?

Nope, nothing of the sort. XenServer and Xen remain identical to what they have always been year after year. XenServer is a Xen distribution. That is never going to change. Xen is the hypervisor, XenServer is the distro.
Just like CentOS and Linux will always remain separate things. CentOS is an OS built on Linux, Linux is the kernel.
