Edge Smart Host Connector keep connecting
-
(for everyone else, we've been investigating this via chat)
Righto, did the event logs on the edge server show anything?
-
it said DNS query failed
-
That would do it. Can you do an nslookup on the same query and see what is returned?
-
i did ... it direct to my AD controller .. right or not ??

I don't know what the query was that failed.
-

this edge serves is vm on hyperV ..
i got plan to restored the vm to date ( when edge server is ok), does it make a sense ??
to make it work again ..i dunno which one of query has failed .
any suggestion, maybe from another mangolassi member ?/ -
I'm not an Exchange expert, it has been generations since I was actively administering Exchange. What version of Exchange are we dealing with here?
-
Maybe this is the Smart Host that cannot be looked up. Try an nslookup of the Smart Host address.

Restoring your edge server from back up will wipe all the email i the incoming queue.
The issue could just be a DNS one. So restoring your backup won't help. From the Edge server command prompt, run
nslookup <mailserver>Here are some articles on DNS troubleshooting that may be of assistance:

What has changed on your network?
- Is your edge server is a DMZ?
- Has anyone made network changes? Config/hardware/moved ports etc
-
Are you getting any errors in your DNS server?

to make it work again ..Unless you have a reason to believe that something has changed on it, I would not recommend doing this.

Yes, we weren't questioning that. We were questioning if losing the mail from in between then and now was worth trying to figure out if the issue was internal or external.

@scottalanmiller itu just different 3 or 4 days with fine condition and bad system ..

If you are sure that the issue is with the system itself, then go ahead and roll back.

That was the fear. That suggests that the error was externally caused, not internally caused. So if you are sure that you rolled back to a point in time where it was definitely working then it seems like you have something like DNS broken on the outside.
