Skype for Business Corporate Directory
-
Has anyone worked with Skype for Business and had it be able to get it to automatically populate users' clients with a list of the people in the organization? It would be nice if they did not have to search but had the company's own list pushed into a group of some sort. Right now everyone has to do searches for each person that they want to talk to and add them to lists on their own. It is very manual, rather error prone (as it seems to search things other than just the Skype for Business directory and gets the wrong accounts often) and just causes people to not use it making the system go idle and be a waste.
I think if people could easily just see a list of who is in the company it would do wonders for getting adoption to take off. This is probably something easy that I have just not figured out how to do.
Hosted on Office 365, if that matters.

I hadn't given it much thought, but looking at my SfB, no,.. only shows a few people in the group.

Actually your distribution groups are a great way to do this. On S4B just type the name of a distro group in Exchange online and it should populate those users and group for you by right clicking and add to favorites.
Sometimes I create a separate book just for departments etc. -

Are they ones that you have populated or did they auto-populate from somewhere? Maybe they are people that added you?

It's been long enough that I don't recall. But I think I had to add them manually.

I just tested this on mine and it works! It's very cool. And if you double click it creates a chat message for the group! (Edited from an accidental MLNews post.)

It is working! Thanks @GregoryHall that is actually very easy and useful. Maybe it should have something in the interface to guide people to that a little more naturally, but knowing that it is there makes it way easier.

Oh, that's neat. Could be used for permanent discussion groups then!

@GregoryHall's method is what I used to do this exact thing a while back.
Only thing I wasn't able to figure out was how to automatically add the group to people's lists - I ended up writing up some tutorials on how to add groups and which one to add for one of our departments that needed to use S4B.
