Disable or Limit Gestures on an HP Envy with Windows 10
-
I have a roughly one year old HP Envy laptop (inherited from @fiyafly) that is now my main "workstation" for day to day work. Overall I mostly like it but I have one major issue right now and I am hoping that it is one that I can pretty easily remedy. The touchpad registers a lot of gestures or guesstures as they should be called. Basically it takes normal swipes needed to move the mouse or select something on screen and interprets them in crazy ways. I can't tell what it thinks that I am doing but it almost randomly changes windows, resizes text or whatever.
Is there a way to limit what gestures are caught or just turn them off (I'd prefer a happy medium.) I'm not sure if this is a driver for the Envy doing this or if it is something built into Windows 10. Seems pretty odd that a "make the font tiny" gesture would be a standard motion for Windows 10.

There should be options to disable gestures in Control Panel. I expect it will be be under touchpad settings but you've probably already checked there.

Bad news, it might not be possible: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Windows-Tablets/How-do-I-disable-touchpad-swipe-or-edge-gestures-on-Envy-x2/td-p/4796822

Argh. I literally just plugged in a mouse to use a few minutes ago. That fixes the problem in a not very elegant way.

Well, that's much more elegant than the screwdriver and pliers method

Here's a how to on windows 8 (I'm assuming it would be similar on Windows 10)
