I personally use the the local bus. Bus #100 leaves form the lower level area every half hour on the :00 and :30. Takes you right downtown and only costs $1.50
Cab and Uber and all that work like anywhere else and cost appropriately more.
Very few of the downtown hotels have an airport shuttle, but some do. you may wish to check that.
I was recommended this as well, though was told it was $1.75 ea way, and bring exact change as they don't have any.
Thanks for the additional information on where to find them Jared. -
The green dot by the word "Bouldin" is the Embassy Suiites. The next one after that is the Raddison.
And yup, fare is $1.75

Here is the location from the current Google Street View image. Lower level all the way forward in front of the taxi pickup area. It is labeled Capital Metro.
The other way

Thanks for the info everyone! Very helpful.

No problem. I take the bus every year when I arrive. I have yet to wake up early enough to take the bus when I leave though.
Instead that is a mad scramble for a taxi NOW NOW NOW... -

What's the transit time from downtown to the airport?
-
it is about the same. 30 minutes. but the bus is outbound every 30 minutes same as it is inbound.
So just a matter of being awake a bit earlier than you need to be for a taxi.

On the hour at 4th and trinity and a few minutes later at the Radisson and then Embassy Suites.

Arriving in Austin tomorrow around 7:00 PM. Any suggestions on the best mode of transportation from the airport to downtown?
I might be around and able to get you. Don't know my schedule yet. Text me when you arrive to see if I'm in town.

@scottalanmiller Thanks I will do that!
