Chat history doesn't go 3 months back

I'm not sure where this should go, feel free to move it to the correct area.
So I went to pull up a conversation I had with Minion Queen in chat and discovered that Chat only goes back two months instead of the indicated three months.
Furthermore I might as well say I suggest that it go back at least a year, but 2 years would be better for an IT type forum where people might be talking privately about configurations, etc and want/need to reference them later.

Would there be any benefit to having the ability to do a chat export? With 'notification' of limit reached?
