That's odd. Especially if it wasn't something officially setup with the college.
-
@Lakshmana Again, are you sure this is IBM??
How did you get the interview call. By mail/call. if by mail, does their id says @ibm?
This for sure doesn't seems to be IBM to me, must be a vacancy in that college in the IT dept. and I don't think IBM does placement for other companies

Agreed, very odd. IBM itself has campuses all over India. They have no need to use a third party facility, especially in a key IT city. The only time that I would expect this would be if the interview was being done locally in a small place where IBM had no presence.

They did not use mail fifteen years ago! There is no way to know that it is really IBM with a letter. In the US they have made using the mail to defraud someone a huge crime, so the mail is reasonably safe (sort of.) But in India, the very fact that you got mail and not email should itself be a red flag making you instantly distrust it completely.
Have they included email information on how to contact them? If they have no, there is no way that IBM has anything to do with this.

@scottalanmiller I have mailed the situation to manager at Bangalore and she said that he would contact me as soon as possible after having the meeting with the HR and Recruiting Team

He often uses mail instead of saying email. It's very confusing.
-
@scottalanmiller Yes the invitation letter came to my gmail(email)

We were very specific earlier in getting you to tell us if it was email or mail. Much of this conversation was based around your answer of it being mail, not email.

View the headers and check that it is not spoofed. Also don't Verify by them by contacting someone that has contacted you. Brenda Swatek is the US HR Director and contacting her I'm sure she could verify that it was IBM for you.

How, did he give you her email?
-
@Lakshmana, from now on, please don't use mail and email interchangeably. They are not the same, and especially given your area of the world, if it's email, say email. If it's mail, say mail. Don't use mail for email.
