Wireless carriers fight ban on throttling firefighters during emergencies

Committee passes Calif. bill spurred by Verizon throttling despite CTIA objection.
The US mobile industry's top lobbying group is opposing a proposed California state law that would prohibit throttling of fire departments and other public safety agencies during emergencies

How about the Wireless Carriers let public service folks have unlimited data and not throttle them at all? ... or better yet, quit nickle & diming your customers and stop throttling everybody.

Or how about municipalities pay their bills.

SpaceX cuts broadband-satellite altitude in half to prevent space debris

Halving altitude to 550km will ensure rapid re-entry, latency as low as 15ms.
SpaceX has received Federal Communications Commission approval to halve the orbital altitude of more than 1,500 planned broadband satellites in order to lower the risk of space debris and improve latency.

OMG this is freaking awesome. That's an amazing latency boost and, presumably, easier to make the radios work, too.
