Report details sexual abuse by more than 300 priests in Pennsylvania's Catholic Church
Saw that the other day. Thousands of victims.
And those priests are the people who run the religion, and who their followers go to for counsel... sick.
I think it's more horrifying that the Catholic church is still allowed to exist when they have been providing a career path (and young victims) for pedos for a couple of thousand years now. Any new allegations these days are disturbing but far from surprising.

I think it is horrifying that any cult is allowed to wield any power at all.

@jaredbusch What do you mean by this?
Take away their tax exempt status? Take away their members' right to vote? -

Take away their tax exempt status? Take away their members' right to vote?He means that, if people will quit giving the churches power over them, then they would dissolve away.

@nerdydad Still dont understand. Little kids are supposed to stand up to trusted authority figures? Little kids dont do that, because they are naive and inexperienced at life.
Their parents? Their parents support an organization that has condoned child rape for centuries.
Who is supposd to 'not let church have power over them'? -

Who is supposd to 'not let church have power over them'?All of that is true, but the government also gives them special power which encourages adults to see the government condoning them, etc.

Seems like the best punishment would be to just leave him to it.

But secretly switch out his tranquilizers with a placebo first.

Australian s are about as backwater as the US government.
Incredibly important part of the article.
"As the government explains, the proposal would impose fines of up to A$10 million for companies that do not comply and A$50,000 for individuals who do not comply.
Additionally, the proposed law would seemingly forbid companies from even talking about whether they were under legal pressure from the government to assist them. Put another way, if there was an "FBI v. Apple"-type situation in Australia under this law, hardly anyone would know about it."
