Definitely not, at least for the life of IE 10. I'd expect MS to fully announce the retirement 5+ years in advance so that businesses will be aware that the crutch they currently live on is going to expire if they are planning to continue using Windows desktops.

Sounds more like a name change than anything. a PR move to give IE a new image.

The new browser is more than just a name change, they have dumped a lot of the legacy old code making it incompatible with old IE 6/7/8 sites. Hopefully it will be a lot better.

Dumping old code doesn't make it a new browser unless they completely re-wrote the code base. which somehow I doubt they did. It would just be a new version of the same product if all you did was dump some old code and add new features.

Agreed - did I say it was a new browser? I guess I did. The core is the same as the base for as IE, Trident, but I don't know if the main code was started over or not.

And that's why they are changing the name and calling it a new browser. Spartan will run along side IE on Windows 10.
