Strong Museum of Play: Video game Exhibit
-
What about the State Museum in Albany? Have not been there since I was about eight.

I finally got to go to Strong recently and I was actually disappointed by the video game exhibit. I know they bought a gigantic private collection recently and even have one of 10 known copies of Tengen Tetris for Sega Genesis (one of the rarest games out there) and yet, the vast majority of the games they have are being stored in the basement of the building. They have very little on display. I have a better game display in my game room than they have.
Also, they have an impressive array of arcade machines but are using them as a cash grab and have not put them on Free Play. Considering they already charge extra for the carousel and the butterfly garden (worth it, by the way) charging the few quarters for each arcade/pinball machine just seems like a dick move.
Speaking of things to see in Western NY worth seeing, has anyone mentioned the Planetarium in Rochester? It's always fun to see the star show projected up on the dome. Alternatively, if you're near Buffalo, not Rochester, head up to Niagara Falls (the town, not the natural wonder) in NY and there is an Aquarium there that is somewhat small, but very enjoyable.

@Awkward-Gamer Yup, I mentioned the planetarium earlier in the thread.

I've been to the Ithaca Science Museum but that was over a decade ago. Haven't been to Strong or the Corning Glass Museum...all on my list of things to do...

Corning Glass Museum is very good.

We went to Corning Glass Museum for Valentines day with my future father-in law (he drove in from Pittsburgh area to meet us). It was really good well worth the price of admission. They are also adding on a huge expansion for more contemporary glass art, which looks really cool. I think it will be open next month or in may.

You should come up and see Niagara Falls. They say they wont melt until well into May this year.

I have not as of yet. The windchill is way to cold for me to even think about it. But maybe next week it will be in the 20's here

I've heard from a few people who keep an eye on weather that we are looking at staying in the big freeze till early to mid-April. I really hope we don't go from 10 degree weather to 40 degree weather in a matter of days... too much snow on the ground right now for that.

Sigh I am so looking forward to it getting warm. But the 6' of snow melting in my area is going to cause lots of flooding issues.
