So, didn't get the job I interviewed for because I didn't have certs.
Can I downvote the company?
Haha!! They seemed like a very good company to be honest!! The whole "we are looking for specialized skills that you get with certifications" is kinda dumb if you ask me. It's that whole argument "are certifications necessary?"
So certs are more important than skills?
If they knew that they required certs, the interview was a farce just to waste your time?
I call this corporate cat fishing.

They actually said and I quote "It’s a combination of types of experience and best practices knowledge, which usually comes from dedicated training, certifications, and the like."

If they think that TRAINING is how you learn, I think you likely dodged a bullet. I know of almost no skill that comes from training rather than learning.

That implies that they are unable to self teach, and then project that limitation onto those that they hire.

Most businesses will put it on the learner not the teacher. My last company had this one woman teaching everyone and she was the worst teacher I've ever seen. After every class she complained about how stupid everyone was and every day I'd be tempted to tell her that she's the problem.

I hope you are correct about dodging a bullet. I guess the search continues, but the clock is ticking for me.
I'm a "cash in hand" kind of guy and I won't stop being concerned until I walk in on my first day of whatever new job I land.

If anyone is curious about Huawei networking equipment, I have two different types of access points im testing tomorrow, the AD9430DN-24 Central Access Point and the AC6605-26-PWR Access Controller. I'll start a thread tomorrow.

I highly recommend not to because Huawei is compromised by the Chinese, just like Lenovo.

This was 8 months into the purchasing process the day I got here. Not my choice.

Lenovo is not compromised by the Chinese. Lenovo is the bad actor here, not China.
Huawei was compromised by the NSA, but I know nothing of them being compromised by the Chinese.

Is the true identity of the compromiser really more important than the fact that the gear is compromised?
"Hey don't drink that, it's poisoned with X!"
"No, it's poisoned with Y, big difference!!!"

Well, calling Lenovo compromised is confusing. It's running as intended, it's just a malicious product. It's important to identify your enemies rather than innocent third parties that your enemies also target.

That level of specific-ness is way too close to tin foil hattery for my taste. I assume nearly everyone is the enemy and go on about my life. I'd live in a metal lined cave in the wilderness if I spent any time worrying about all the specifics of that horse shit.

Did you check that Google search? Nothing in there suggests that their networking gear is compromised. Not that it isn't, but nothing in the first two pages seems to even talk about it. There is a belief that the vendor may report back to the Chinese details from their contract work in the US and that might be bad, but that's pretty different and it's a bit hard to know who is blaming whom there.
Seems like a lot of soft conjecture around something other than we are discussing at best.
