Why have a title of IT Manager or Director of IT and not have the power to sign something that will cost us $293.28?

LOL because titles in SMBs are fake or made up to make people feel good.

Been an AD and SCCM training day. Spent time last night playing with SCCM 2012 since I am licensed for it with technet, save me on the its old speech, I know, it is called a lab. Then I will go newer. Had to do a Metadata cleanup of a dead DC in my lab, not as bad as I remember....

I called myself Director of IT for about 2 years here. But after talking to Scott, etc, I ditched that and just call myself the IT admin - IT generalist is confusing to normals and always requires an explanation, but IT admin, oh your the person in charge of IT there, got it.. end of discussion.

I think my actual title still has the word "assistant" in it... even though I'm the whole department. I don't assist anyone. I'd be happy with any version of "admin".

I used to too, then after talking to myself ditched it as well.

Yeah, so you can sound like a lowly assistant, or go with my suggestion and be the master of your domain.
(That could work on so many levels...)

Why have a title of IT Manager or Director of IT and not have the power to sign something that will cost us $293.28?

LOL because titles in SMBs are fake or made up to make people feel good.

Can I have a better title then???

I called myself Director of IT for about 2 years here. But after talking to Scott, etc, I ditched that and just call myself the IT admin - IT generalist is confusing to normals and always requires an explanation, but IT admin, oh your the person in charge of IT there, got it.. end of discussion.

I think my actual title still has the word "assistant" in it... even though I'm the whole department. I don't assist anyone. I'd be happy with any version of "admin".

                                    Or.... you assist everyone.

That is possible... but I'm not an "assistant" to any IT person. I "help" users.

And only 2 or 3 people spotted that.

One Piece has an interesting tactic for dealing with pirating. They came out with so much content, no one wants to take up all of their HD space storing it 😄
