The US granted independence to the Philippines on July 4, 1946 through the Treaty of Manila.[Yup, so you should celebrate on July 4th, the same day that we do. Even though we didn't become independent that day, we just declared our intention to be.
-
So you actually became independent on July 4th but celebrate today and the US actually became independent on April 15th but celebrates July 4th.

Other April 15th facts: Abraham Lincoln was pronounced dead that morning after doctors attempted to save his life. We made income taxes due that day. It is my birthday.
