I don't get why people, even those who should know better, mix up slash and backslash. I always ask them "If I tell you to write down on paper 'cat slash dog' are you going to ever write \ ?" I'm not sure what that's about.

Pops and I still call a forward slash (/) the switch. Old DOS lingo that just stuck with us through the years.

Pops and I still call a forward slash (/) the switch. Old DOS lingo that just stuck with us through the years.
I still call it the slash, you know, from typewriter days.

A guy I used to work with used to call < and > "chicken lips right" and "chicken lips left". It was used in the terminal on Ericcson AXE Telco switches for the commands. Always gave me a chuckle.
