Printer in non-domain environment connected but not printing.

I'll check once I regain access to the machine. Note that the printer never shows as offline to the laptop.
Still, make sure you can ping it. I've seen statuses do some screwy stuff with printers mapped by IP.

Do a ping -a to get the hostname and confirm you are pinging the printer. HP will be HP and the serial number as the hostname by default.
The HP Photosmart 7520 returns on a ping -a as HPC5799A
Ok, so we at least know the IP is being used on an HP printer, so we can assume it's right. What driver it is using?
Driver name says HP Photosmart 7520 series, comes up UNIDRV.DLL and I can't find much of anything on date or revision. It's actually rather odd. The properties -> Hardware tab is completely empty. I found what info I have off of the 'Print server properties' header in Devices and Printers.
Maybe I don't deal with printers enough, but this seems a bit odd to me.
If you go to Printer Properties > Advanced, there should be a driver dropdown where you could select the driver to use. What does it have listed there, although I'm guessing it's the UPD?

According to the user, The printer works fine on the desktop, aside from the fact that when he restarts the printer, it goes offline according to the desktop , and he needs to reinstall it to get it up and working again. The laptop has been having issues this whole time.

Desktop is likely wired, although the laptop probably isn't. Given this sounds live a very small environment, it's more than likely.

Ok, so let's go on the assumption it has never worked. Instructions coming in next post.

So, we are going to fully remove the printer, driver and all.
- Go to Devices and Printers, right click and Delete the printer.
- Next, open a run prompt and type "printui /s /t2". If that doesn't work, use "rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /s /t2". Find the 7520 driver and delete it.
- Uninstall all the HP software that was installed when the printer was first installed.
Reboot. - Now, download this link:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL43790/mp-108709-2/PS7520_Basicx64_1315.exe That is the HP Photosmart 7520 Windows 7 x64 BASIC driver, so not the full package with all the bloatware. - Install printer.
- Try again.

A.J.Deleted the printer and attempted to delete the driver and it claimed to be in use. Removed the package originally installed with the printer and tried to delete the driver again and it still says in use.

Restart the print spooler.
Also, you may have to reboot. Is the printer gone from Devices and Printers?
