Windows 10 - No internet?

Got a Windows 10 Machine, that on the icon in the task bar, and in the NIC settings is showing no internet access.
Odd that it's showing me it can't connect to the internet while I'm connected into it through the internet..
also I can ping google (8.8.8.8 and www.google.com) and browse the internet just fine. . .
non-issue but could show as an issue later on, anyone seen this before?

Based on my research "NCSI taskbar icon may report "no internet" on Windows 10 2004 devices that DO have internet access" is a known issue, for more information, please kindly refer to the following link:
You can assign the IP address manually to the impacted client as a workaround, then everything works again. You can even switch back to DHCP after that.
Please refer to the following detailed steps:
Click "Start" button and insert cmd.exe, select Run as administrator. Then please insert the following command in cmd window:
ipconfig /all
Locate the IPv4 address of Wi-Fi adapter and remember the IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway.
Click Start button and insert "ncpa.cpl", press Enter to access to Network Connections. Right click the Wi-Fi adapter and select properties. And then please select TCP/IPv4 and click Properties.
Please select "Use the following IP address" and inset the IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway manually and click OK to apply the changes.
And then, please go back to the TCP/IPv4 properties and select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and click "OK" to apply the change.

@wrcombs We have a client that's complaining about this. Wish I could prevent their desktops from complaining.
They actually do have an issue with phones, both Android and iOS, will say that wireless has no internet and refuse to work even when all the other wirelessly connected devices are fine. It's been a bit of a head scratcher for us.

Is it a standalone machine or on a Domain?
Also any VPN's active? -
Windows 10 checks internet in some particular way that I can't remember. But if you have some kind of DNS filter, egress traffic filter, firewall settings it might block the test for internet and complain. Even if the rest of the internet works fine.

from the document above it says something about connecting to microsoft.com - but I'm not sure exactly.

admittedly this is the 3rd time i've seen this issue, but just now decided to ask about it, but all of mine have been Windows 10 build 2004...
it's the weirdest non-issue issue that I've come across in a while.

I've seen it before but can't remember why or what i did
think mine was DNS issue with joining a domain via VPN

Hence askingAh, that makes sense, but not in my case sadly.
like I said its a non-issue issue, just can foresee this becoming an issue. -
@wrcombs We get thhs cropping up from time-to-time and it causes Office365 desktop apps to stop working (claiming they cannot validate license) so its a headache for us. Have not yet found a permanent resolution and yes we checked DNS setting, removed VPN software, etc.

I actually tested the microsoft.com ping and it wasn't seeing that website at all... so maybe that's it? but I have no idea what would cause that ...

I've seen this happen many times, I think it could be DNS or something the way Microsoft checks connectivity. I find it normally sorts itself out. as long as access to the internet is it bothering the client that much?

Just get calls about it now more so than we probably should.

@wrcombs it's an annoying issue, never used to get it with win7. think the connectivity checker come in with win 8.

Win7 has it as well. I've seen it have problems too.
