How to use the TFTP server built into OS X
-
Had to do this again today and thought I would document the process on my website since I set it up.

OSX as a TFTP server. Not something that I ever expected to see.

The need for a temporary TFTP server is nothing new to me. I have always had the rare need for it. When I had a Windows laptop I had software on it for the purpose.
After I moved to the Mac, I never looked until the first time I needed to do it. Then I asked Google Sensei.

why not? People are always spouting about how they use their MBP for business use.

Laptop servers? A Mac Mini would be better.

@scottalanmiller no one is talking about a server. You are injecting that perception. I specifically stated that I use this for ad-hoc TFTP needs when there is not anything in place and I need to quickly use TFTP as a once off.

I used to install TFTP on my Windows laptop all the time for mobile updating of firmware. How is the MBP any different?
