Whats your thoughts on waiting for 3700x (provided it doesn't completely die by then).
I heard supposed to be out soon, just haven't seen any kind of dates yet.. Looks like the 3700x will be double the core count from what I saw, and will run on AM4, and hopefully x370 chipset.

Get what you need today. If you wait for the next thing, you'll never stop waiting.
There are some subtle differences in architecture in the current generation of Ryzen CPU that means the current higher core count CPU could actually be slower because of how they access memory. The 2700x would be the sweet spot in the current Ryzen's for what your boy is doing.

@travisdh1 haha, true on the waiting part. something always better is going to come out.
I will go ahead and pick up the 2700x.. Wish they had CPU only, as I don't need the cooler as I just got a new one last month, but I don't see one anywhere like how the 1700x was.

You should test the CPU/memory/MB system before doing anything. Search for
memtest86
.
