NextCloud Check In and Check Out
-
Has anyone found a check in / check out system for NextCloud? We are concerned about people overwriting each other. Moving from traditional SMB mapped drives where accessing a file locks it out and they would like it to be as close to that as possible. Other than WebDAV, not sure how to handle anything close to that.

I tried once Onlyoffice with that, and it can view office files via web browser and edit them, and I think they managed to do file locking.
Also there is app that supports manual file lockings, or an addon.

That would be an interesting plug in , but it would have to be tied into the sync client.
Because those "lock" files that MS office uses do not get sync'd by default.

I thought there was a collaboration app that handled this but I can't find it

Right, I was thinking that, somehow it would need to lock files via the sync client, and how would it handle when they are offline?

A collaboration app can't do this. At best it can do it for a specific case, but not the general one. There is no collaboration product for any platform that can do that.
