I am trying to configure my static ip with one Nic card. I am running hipchat server.
The gateway address is on a different subnet the the public ip. I can't seem to get the Nic card to get on the net.
So public addr is 104.x.x.x. 255.255.255.224. GW 107.x.x.x.x
Doesn't seem to route not matter what I do.
when I do router -n. GW shows 0.0.0.0

If your Subnet is 255.255.255.224, then that's not going to work... The math works out to where you have two usable IP addresses with that subnet.
Check and make sure you have the subnet mask right.

Yeah the gateway is correct it's frontier. I am on the phone now to ask them to assign the proper gateway..
They have the lan and wan on the same gateway

that would sure do it.

it will take some time to do.. and I would lose an IP address. Is there any way to do it in the VM?

.224 is not 2 IP addresses. That is a /27 with 32 IP addresses in the block with 30 usable (one of which is the gateway) in the traditional method of ISP handoff. But that is also not what he has. see the other post.

You are indeed correct. Some dummy didn't use his cheating tools correctly yesterday.
