Haven't tried it, but I suppose you could script a sort of backup to that location.
Why? If the goal is free make it simple and just use UrBackip.
The goal is to use ODfB as the target.
But you can't use Veeam free for that. You stated just wrote a script for it. I'm saying don't writr a script and use something that scales and provides central management for free.
But scaling and stuff doesn't matter if it doesn't do the job, right?

The issue at hand is the free Veeam agent can't target ODfB, you have to purchase a license.
You stated something along the lines of write a script so one could use ODfB as a target.
I'm saying that's a bad idea, it means custom scripts for multiple systems, no central management or any other major benefit, besides there being a backup.
Using UrBackup you'd have central management, remote restore functionality, remote backup run, scheduled backups etc.

@dustinb3403 But can UrBackup target ODfB?

You can use Veeam Endpoint, but it does require a license to backup to ODfB. That is more of a premium feature. Otherwise, you're tied to some type of local storage, whether on your network or to your PC.
I was just giving an example of free software like Veeam, if it requires license, I will look for other free or cheaper option.

I'm okay with backing up of only data, but would like to utilize ODfB space, to make secondary backup. Is it going to be like an alternative for cloud backup?
-
Is ODfB really 1TB for each user?
-
My core idea is to improve more backup options for few of our critical users and systems, by adding ODfB (cloud like) along with local.

Your core idea is wrong because you are using a sync service as a backup, and that is not the intent.
Can you hack things to make it do it? Sure. But it will never be a reliable solution.

I am currently evaluating ODFB as a backup tool for end user data (only their desktop and documents folder) c drive, accessing it via run etc blocked by group policy.
Testing 2 scenarios; moved desktop and documents to one drive location, so anything we save gets synced to ODFB automatically. Second is the basic ODFB setup and manually copying files to sync folder.
For OS we have master image so if a machine crashes, just restore back, and then sync back files from one drive. Works fine on my machine but having sync issues with another one.(Desktop & Documents redirect and sync) For him saving any documents takes longer time, ms office hangs etc.

I can understand how bad to use sync service as a backup. That's why I am here to put my plans and know possibilities, good and bad things.
Some of users never use OneDrive at all. What if I say, I will backup to OneDrive, where it is not used for syncing purpose, and backup software supports pushing data to OneDrive storage directly (if possible, is it??).....

Try using something else like Backblaze.

The likely issue with this is he already has a service which is providing space that is going unused. Adding another service would add costs.

Looks like Veeam free version supports backup to onedrive
