A client is consolidating a ton of Gmail and Hotmail accounts from a bunch of their businesses, into O365. I've been doing exports/imports, setting up forwarding, etc.

One things I've noticed, during a Gmail and Outlook migration to O365... Gmail has many little things that have made this pretty easy to get off Google. You can pretty much export whatever you want down to a granular level of services; you can also make it even easier and use Google Takeout. Outlook/Hotmail, so far, blows. You can't export a calendar, or your mailbox. You can do contacts though.

I ended up having to use the local Outlook client, add the user's hotmail account, export to PST, then import the PST into the other account. Anyone know of any easier way to export mail pst and calendar ics directly from the Outlook/Hotmail web login?

Edit: Migration issues was in another thread. I wasn't getting any contacts or calendars, and thought the migration was only intended to migrate email. https://mangolassi.it/topic/16297/o365-gmail-migration-issues/2

Why on earth are you exporting?

        Use the built in migration.
        Specifically, IMAP.

Make one for each account if you have to.

I tried built in. That's what is throwing the errors. I forgot to link to my other thread, sorry. https://mangolassi.it/topic/16297/o365-gmail-migration-issues/2

So I tried from the O365 console. After wondering what was going on behind the scenes, I went into Exchange > Recipients > Migration. I saw 3 running for 3 separate users. They all synced with errors. I deleted those jobs and started over from within Exchange, creating the migration point, etc. Synced with errors again.

After all else, I tried exporting from Google because the migration seemed to not get calendars or contacts (maybe it isn't supposed to... I can't compare to any successes). The export was to get anything that hadn't synced. For one user, I had to go as far as adding their Hotmail to the Outlook client and doing an export/import just to get it done; not at all ideal for the future.

Is the built in migration intended to get calendars and contacts? I would think it'd get everything since they are all technically just folders, but I've yet to have it work 100% for me so was not sure.

I have only migrated from on site Exchange to O365, so I have never tried the IMAP functionality. Just knew it was there.

Well, I thought I'd try it again to see if there were improvements. Not very impressed. I'll just stick with BitTitan for the small extra cost.

Fun fact after researching... it is indeed intended to grab contacts-calendars-mail, but will not grab local distribution groups if you've created them in the local Outlook client. I think they are technically stored in a separate file, but for whatever reason it is not included in the migration.

The file you need to do it manually per user. See below:
