Centos/RHEL 6.x vms running on Xen/Xenserver dont boot after installation of 2.6.32-696.18.7.el6
-
This is the kernel update to fix the Spectre/Meltdown.
 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:0008edit: Only affects PV installations

And the VMs can't boot once installed?
-
 Nope. Mine actually shut off.
Reverting to snapshot was only fix I had. Some people get booted into kernel panic and can edit grub to use old kernel, but not mine.
I only did this on two servers, then did some GoogleFu and found this RedHat thread.

You might have to turn off pti.

Our DC sent a warning about this. And they said it's not just VMs, could also happen to bare metal.
