We use IMAP with Zimbra because we are explicitly a zero Outlook shop.

Do you do any shared calendar stuff?

      Yes

How? Using was app other than webmail?

You can shared calendar over webmail or CardDav

Why would we use something other than webmail?

Zimbra has its own client but web clients are ideal for email.

So why again not go with the simple simplicity of a $4 or $5 per month per user O365 email-only option? I'm thinking that, plus a redundant simple internet connection, even if only good enough for email use, woudl be cheaper and more beneficial to the company than do-it-yourself on-prem exchange and all the crap that includes.

                    Is it two way sync?

I got a quote from CDW for O365 for Exchange only (just for S&G) and for 75 users, it came to $10,800/year. You guys weren't kidding...

Wow... it should be 3-5k tops for Exchange only... more so around $3.5k.

She's been in the hospital, she's not available for work for the last few days. (She's not the one sick.)

Yeah, CDW is a shit show. I would not deal with them, even for normal stuff. You can never trust them, their prices are all over the map. Get a good deal one day, totally screwed the next. It's not that they don't deliver what you buy, but the cost of overseeing the use of them is too high that you can't actually save money with them and they don't have any technical value. So if they aren't the cheapest, they are crap.

Yes, the price is $4. No ifs, ands, or buts. Period. End of story. That's the price. That is always the price from any partner or direct. Always, no exceptions. You never get a quote or a price from a partner, you never need to ask. It is what it is.

The question is solely is @NTG still allowed to handle pure email as a partner or are they now forced to send customers directly to Microsoft and bow out of the equation. That's it, nothing else. The price is the price.

I know you can you add a partner later, after you buy O365 direct - I've done it on one account I help.

Not like @NTG makes a penny. If it is holding you up in any way, just go ahead and get it from MS directly. If MS has either accidentally broken the partner system for email only, or has intentionally removed it... then direct is the only option.

OK, Scott and I just hashed it out - MS Partners who lead customers to O365 used to get some small payment for the first year contract that a customer made. That program has been shutdown, now Partners don't get a dime from MS. Partners only make money on services they sell you directly.

As Scott said - If you want to move forward now - just sign up directly, you can add NTG (or any partner) later to the account. But you can get started today, now, on a trial.
