Hello guys,
i wanted to know about replciation (xenserver, Hyper-v)in different sites... do i have to setup a VPN between them to transfer the VMs?

You will need some sort of connections between them, yes.

Aaron is correct. One way or another those sites need to be able to talk to each other.

I'd go for a pair of EdgeRouter Lites personally if I'm looking to setup a VPN link between locations.

With Hyper-V you can go straight with only SSL encryption if you want/need to not have VPN overhead. But I dunno anyone with needs that overwhelm offloaded IPSEC on a router.
