Cellular carrier - who do you use?

I didn't read all 5 pages, but I have found Cricket to have the most value. It uses AT&T towers which is much better than the other prepaid services that use their own or piggyback off of Sprint (which is terrible).
$60 with taxes and fees included for everything unlimited with 10GB of data.
$70 with taxes and fees included for unlimited everything including data.
The pricing of prepaid with the reliability of AT&T ( I am ready for the jokes). AT&T is acutally the best here in Central Florida. Verizon is right there too, but they are at least double the price of Cricket.

VZW.
But now that I am with DirecTV at home, I can port to AT&T and get a lot more cool features at a lower cost.
Been with VZW for ages, no service issues. Ever. All of my issues have been equipment issues.
I hate AT&T with a passion.
Do I stick with Quality or sell my soul for budget?I'm with Verizon too. Scumbags and thieves. Every few months they try to steal from me. A few times they added some bs insurance on my phones, for "only" $10 a month, and reps dared to argue it's for my own benefit. All of that without my knowledge or approval. You're not selling your soul by going to AT&T, you're showing middle finger to the thieves. I was with AT&T for a couple of years and I've never had any issues with service or billing.
Now I'm waiting for Google Fi to be available on iPhones.

Something else to consider.
TMobile doesn't include hotspotting at there included rates either, for that you'll pony up another $25/m per phone
Sober and have coffee.. Following up on this again, you are, yet again, reading this wrong and making incorrect assumptions.
All T-Mobile phone plans include tethering have included tethering for years. The image you posted above is to enable full 4G LTE speeds at all times when you tether.
@Dashrender said in Cellular carrier - who do you use?:
I wonder what they mean by Twice the Speed? So they are intentionally capping my speed with the normal plan, and they are doubling that speed for $25 more a month.. sigh. lol
They mean you get faster international data than you get for free. duh..

are you guys grandfathered then?

Wow double? so one phone on VZW is $120-$140/month?
Moving the $60/month plan would drastically increase my 3 phone bill plan on ATT. 3 phones 15 GB shared data $140/month (I have a discount that saves me even more).

now you're assuming it's only international. The USA could be one of those 140 destinations... That said, there's a chance your assumption is correct.
But nothing in that ad indicated that Hotspot service is only while traveling internationally, then again, nothing says it isn't either.

My one phone was like $180/mo and I got "loyalty" penalties every two years as well.

It wouldn't be unlimited if it were limited, right? You are adding in restrictions that are totally unreasonable and obviously are not true. It's unlimited in the US, Canada and Mexico - the "service market."
-
Sprint
We have the unlimited plan and 1500 minutes with 4 phones for about $250/month. They like to try to stick it to you in the maintenance and purchasing of the phone. Don't really travel that much outside of the US, but I've had problems in New Mexico a couple of years ago with coverage.

We're talking about speeds, not unlimitedness. i.e. you pay lower price you get speed X, you pay +25, you get 2X speed. that doesn't change the unlimited nature of it.

Holy crap! what kind of options did you have on that one phone? Unlimited data back when data was an arm and a leg?

What do you mean stick it to you with maintenance and purchasing of the phone?
Most US cell companies have picked up the, what I call, European plan. i.e. the phone service is completely separate from the phone. The service is what the service costs - you want a phone, you pay for it outright, or through the kind graces of the carrier, they let you make payments to them instead of your CC company at little or no interest. Or you buy into one of the more modern plans where you don't really buy a phone, instead you rent one, and you turn it in every 1-2 years and start paying the new rental fee.
This really is the fairest solution - you pay the lowest - yet regular - fee for the service.. then you decide how much you want to spend on a phone. If you want to run a phone for 4 years, then you can save a crap load of money! In the old days, you were punished by not getting a new phone as soon as your contract allowed.. you always paid the high subsidized price, even if you were getting no value from it.

Probably.

@Dashrender That's the problem we're starting to face now. Our last mid-election cycle contract is up and they like to tack on extra charges when you're out of contract. Plus, you can't tell me that a phone truly costs $600-1000 to make + profit. There's got to be profit built in for both the manufacturer and the carrier. I'm sure the manufacturer and the carrier likes to negotiate. Otherwise, the carrier isn't going to carry your phone for free.
-
We currently have Directv aka AT&TV and we're considering going from Sprint to AT&T to bundle and possibly get some savings. Does anybody else do this? Has anybody else seen the savings in it?

Why would you think that? You can buy those phones direct from Amazon for the exactly (within a few dollars) the same price as you do in the cellular store. Heck - look at Apple and the iPhones. The iPhone is the same cost at AT&T as it is in the Apple store.
The difference is that Apple might get to keep more of the profits, but the consumer still pays the same price.

Actually, the fine print on that page does say that. It also says that top abusers can be throttled to 3g speeds when tethering if the carrier so chooses.
