Batteries? Batteries explode!

"My trackpad is angled super weird". Took apart a customer's laptop to find this hidden gem.

This is why you are never supposed to put a laptop or tablet into checked luggage on an airplane.

It's going to become a bigger problem as batteries become more energy dense. I don't think most people appreciate how much energy is stored in a modern battery. They just see oh it's 3000mAh. Drive a nail through one, and you will find out real quick. Leave one in your car on a hot summer day and you might be in for a bad time.

Do they swell with barometric pressure or are you suggesting that the ramp agents throwing it around can cause a battery to become unstable?

The question was an either or... So I'm guessing 'yes' is to both in combination.

Your guess is correct. When all options are correct, I do tend to answer with just a single yes instead of further elucidating.
