Looking up the best way to clean off old paint from a decking before we find a nice colour to repaint with.
Pressure washer?

Yeah looks like, paint stripper then pressure washer (I'll have to borrow one). Sand it down. Pressure wash. Let dry. Then repaint

They are talking about moving us to Work From home. With 1 person in the office to handling shipping and receiving...

Neighbors have set up a mini skate park in the cul de sac.
So much for social distancing...
I know right? - the icecream truck came by yesterday and there were like 15 kids and a few parents all in circle under 10 ft in diameter.

well, you're mostly making phone calls now, right? so that shouldn't be a problem..
But - can they make your calls look like they are coming from the office, and not your cell/home phone?

You aren't home already? The police would have raided you already in any civilized state.

I doubt that they have ANY kind of IT staff there. From his stories of support, I doubt that they can manage phones.

No? We're not in lockdown, and we're "essential" because restaurants are still open for takeout and delivery.

We have a Vast Phone system now, with SoftPhones already installed on our Cell Phones,
Plus most calls I make these days are for sales. I still do Tech stuff, installs, and Support, but it's rare. -

Essential is by role, not business. It's not essential to sit in an office doing work that doesn't need to be done in an office. Doctors are essential, too, but can't go to work just for the sake of it.

We hired a company to manage the phones for us because "its easier" then to hire our own IT department. "we are an IT company for POS so we can handle the basics, and hire people to do the rest."
. . . .

We also honor our "Full Maintenance Contracts" which would require onsite if requested by the customer - For emergencies such as A kitchen Printer goes down, and they dont have a back up. ETC . Those calls are rare these days though..

Yeah, but you don't work from an office to do that. We are essential, and that means we HAVE to work from home except when doing essential onsite work. Going into a central office where we aren't doing that work is forbidden as that act is non-essential and doesn't require being on site. Both conditions must be met.

No, if that were the case, that would have sent you home a month ago. It's a month too late for discussions about whether or not to protect staff and do your patriotic duties. We are weeks past the past possible excuse for any business to put people in close contact without being absolutely necessary.

He'll now argue that not being in lock down is irrelevant, and that your company should have done it voluntarily weeks ago.
We started sending people home 3 weeks ago.
-

Nope, and it's unpatriotic and flaunting a total disregard for the lives of the rest of the country. It's insane that they've not done it. Texas hasn't either and we want our evil governor lynched. He's a traitor not just to the country, but to the people he was supposed to represent.
But every major county in Texas is in lockdown.
But just because your state has failed you and the country, doesn't mean your business should use the opportunity to put people at risk either just because they think it is funny. Because sending you to work in an office doesn't make them more money, it makes them less. So they are literally willing to lose money and increase their own risk just to flaunt their absolute disregard for the lives of other Americans.

Exactly. if they took their business seriously they would have had people at home to be more effective all along. But that's just good or bad business. But ethically, their last excuse was long ago. Whether or not their awful state government is arresting them is irrelevant in a point of ethics or duty.
as a business owner, I can tell you, there is zero wiggle room or excuse on this.
-
Show me where it says we are required to work from home, that's the only thing my Boss and their Bosses Bosses care about.
if we can still come into the office, then we should.
if not we have to use PTO and Sick days if we want to stay home.
I want facts that i can take to my boss and prove.
You're Opinion is not Fact in the face of a corporation. They wont see what you're saying as anything but Opinion, regardless of who you are.
