I am having trouble importing a personal certificate. I exported this certificate from the user's old PC. Then I copied the exported certificate to the new PC. Then I performed the steps below

All seems to work, but for some reason the certificate is not imported into the personal store. Instead it is imported to the Intermediate Certification Authorities. On the Old PC, the cert was exported from the Personal Store. I am not sure why it is not importing to the personal store. Any ideas?

When I open the MMC snapin, the certificate shows correctly. However, it is still not showing under personal in IE. In IE it is still showing as Trusted Root. I am unable to access the website with the certificate in IE. Any ideas?

I never export initially as a .cer

I usually export a pks with all properties, etc. Then again I am dealing with signed keys too, not self-signed, not sure if it makes a difference..

@IRJ If you still have the old computer available, go back and export as a PFX and see if it will import properly then?
