        Not sure how they claim they can backup esxi free at the vm level. That's disabled in the free version.

          They are not the first to claim this. But I don't know anyone who has tested it. But I cannot figure out how they would get it to work either.

            yeah, I am not sure either. but for 39 bucks. it's worth a shot 🙂 I may try it later and let you guys know. it will backup both local and cloud. could be handy. it says backup 1tb in minutes.......dunno bout that lol

                to be clear, I believe this is only a software solution, no storage space is included. gotta have your own "target" to drop the backups on. weather it be local or cloudy

                  I did not even follow the link, but it is not trivial to perform VM backups with the free ESXi, but it can be done.

                  You have to enable SSH and then you log in that way, issues a snapshot command then SCP the snapshot off and merge the snapshot back in. There you go.

                  No, you cannot use the API stuff, but it can be done.
