I feel dirty by association for that recommendation. One of my most hated things ever is outlook web access.

Funny - I think Scott loves it.... I know I use it all day long for my O365 account.

@Dashrender I.... I can't even think of a good meme to show my horror at that statement

I mean to each their own and all, but.... shudder

That's all that I use. While not very good, I find it better than Outlook. If you use Exchange, it's the best solution I've seen.

I actually prefer OWA to Outlook... Although I really... really hate Outlook.

That pretty much sums it up. Two bad options, but one is better than the other.

Have you used it since 2013?

The one that comes with O365 is surprisingly good... although I would choose almost any email interface (except Outlook) over it.

@scottalanmiller Yes, recently. I get that it breaks less frequently and does less odd stuff (not by much). I've just invested so many hours of my life fixing outlook that I know how to do it quickly and easily. Maybe I'm a tad masochistic or it's Stockholm syndrome

So you recognize that it is better.... but are shocked that we prefer it? 😉

I find Outlook proper to be unbearable. So many problems. And unless you are using plugins to expand it, ugh what a horrible idea, it doesn't seem to add any value over the web interface. But lots of downsides

If you are spending lots of time offline, sure, the fat Outlook client makes sense.

You might be able to work some magic with Davmail Gateway and Thunderbird: http://davmail.sourceforge.net/index.html

I've used this before and it does work, but it's another moving part - - Outlook is obviously preferable since it just works with little to no configuration.

Calendaring is pretty much useless in a collaborative environment, though. That's my biggest gripe with the web interface. If they could get that turned around, I would use that instead in a heartbeat. Also, if you're trying to work with rules and other customizations in the Inbox, OWA doesn't handle that very well.

@Rob-Dunn maybe my rules are just really basic or something, but they seem to work better in OWA than in Outlook, or at least on parity.

I'm really trying to figure out what you all hate about Outlook so much, or OWA for that matter?

Prehaps I'm entirely to simple of a user to see the differences.

Slow, complicated, buggy. Has nothing to do with being a power user. I'm a pretty simple user but neither Outlook nor OWA has been on par with other web interfaces that I have used in a decade.

Outlook is slow, failure prone, and just all around a bad UX. Granted I like the 2013 version more then the previous ones but still...
